This ending always made me a bit emotional. Sad even, I don't know why. Must be the tune when they pass all the characters? Feels like a goodbye.

I’m 37 years old now.. this music and gameplay instantly gets me emotional. DKC1 and DKC2 were the only 2 games that ever really impressed my father. I sat in my room and played games from when I was 5, until pretty much when I moved out. My father never came into my room and actually watched me play any of my games during all of those years…. But …. These 2 games? He was fascinated. He couldn’t get over the music, and the graphics. I felt such intense happiness when he would watch me play these games. I’d go through each level with a smile on my face. Out of the thousands of gameplay videos I’ve watched on KZbin, this particular game is the one that makes me cry. My father’s been gone for almost 12 years now, and I have 2 sons of my own, a 2 year old and a newborn. I’m going to make sure I spend so much time with my kids, and show interest in their hobbies. My father didn’t show very much interest in mine, or spend much time with me. I know I’ve gone a bit deep with this comment, but that’s how good this game was, and still is to me. It reminds me of that intense happiness I had while playing it. It reminds me of my father. This single game holds so much power over me. I absolutely need to get a retro pi set up with emulators, just so I can relive those days. 😢

This game was kind of ahead of its time. I would not doubt that for a minute it seemed like the 16 bit consoles were going to hold their own against the emerging 32 bit consoles. The graphics in this game were just so good that at a short glance they rival something like Clockwork Knight on the Saturn (just a random example).

@Artificialraven (and Booyakasha976) Actually, the game has been beat before using only one life and in under an hour. I Googled it and found a video speedrun. 0.o All items were collected and all bonus games were successfully done. Just decided to point that out. Very interesting. (One of the main developers of the game did so in a quicker time, too. Maybe Cranky was modeled after the guy...)

@Artificialraven Using a glitch to save often with Candy, your time doesn't carry over when you reset...so let's say you have been playing 15 minutes and 45 seconds, when you reset, you'll start at 15 minutes, so it IS possible to beat it under an hour 101% if you're a good player and can utilize this. I'm sure you could do it without the glitch, but it's extremely hard. I've beaten the game twice under an hour.
@ssjup8115 жыл бұрын
I have no idea. I know for a fact that I probably missed tons of stuff when I originally played. Last year, I found another copy of DKC (since I lost my original years ago) on EBay and tried to play it. Still no 100% and no idea as to what to do to figure out what was missed. At least with DKC 2, a good indicator that you missed something can be determined through the amount of DK coins you find, and if you open up all tolls to the lost world.

@Artificialraven It is possible (very much so with TAS), but you have to be one hell of a dedicated speedrunner (there is a comprehensive guide for such an attempt too, which aims at around the 46-minute mark). Cranky says the same damn thing anyway.
@NazTb0y14 жыл бұрын
@ANBU96 I do think RKA for Genesis is arguably a better game (just finished beating that on emulator). If by bad-ass, you mean nerdy, then I wholeheartedly agree that owning the stuff is the way to go. For me, playing the stuff on emulators is nerdy enough. I have thought about buying USB controllers to play them with, but that's about as far as I'll go on the nerd-scale.

That would be nice. DK64 was off storywise, but was still kind of fun to play, though challenging compared to the others. I also wished that Dixie would've been in the game, or at least acknowledged or referenced in-game. Kiddy Kong too. I didn't care for the third game at all. Ironically, I never owned this one. When I finally told my folks for Christmas, "Mom, dad, I want DKC 3 this year." They were all, "okay." I got an N64 instead. lol The only way I played DKC 3 was from renting it.
