As a huge fan of the DKC series (especially DKC2), it never once crossed my mind that this series had a decent amount of rom hacks. Unfortunately from the ones you showed they just looked like simple enemy spamming hacks except for the last one. That last hack you showed looked really promising and I'm tempted to try it out myself.

I heard there was a hack that restored Cranky's unused tips in DKC1. He actually had tips for every world, but a bug/programming oversight made it so that the game forgot to check in what world you were when you entered Cranky's Cabin. As such, only Kongo Jungle's tips ever appeared. Unfortunately, the site where that hack was is gone now.

if your wondering how title was changed in the Boss Blitz, look up a guy named Sethbling. He created a hack of Super Mario World using computer hexadecimal programming, and he basically turned a cartridge in an SNES into a mini-computer. It even had it's own copy system that he could switch and use the RAM chip in the SNES to copy all the code over...

For the part you got stuck on in the first Romhack, what you're supposed to do is use the prior jumping kremlin to reach the top of the left trees. From there you're supposed to roll jump past the bee to the trees above the two launch barrels and proceed along the top of the map over the oil barrel.
@snomangaming7 жыл бұрын
You cant jump on the previous kremling, he just knocks you back because its the type of Krusha that even DK can't kill
@RevZombagger7 жыл бұрын
I mean the brown kremling that's springing from side to side. You bounce on his head at 2:17, but you need to use that bounce to reach the treetops directly above you. The next move is a long roll jump, hence why the bee is there as an obstacle. You're to roll under the bee and take a long roll jump to hit the next treetop.

If it's just an IPS patch, you shouldn't need any sketchy software at all. There are plenty of good, clean ones. Now, you may have to go to a sketchy website to get the right DKC roms. But I find that adblock is usually enough to make them not so bad.

@ericcartman74204 жыл бұрын
Getting ROM hacks to work is by no means a difficult or complex undertaking. All the things listed in the video are pretty self-explanatory. The "sketchy programs" basically do all the work for you, finding the right version for the patch to work is usually listed in the patch's ReadMe file and using Google to find it is no rocket science and outside of adding/removing headers from ROM's (which can be done with a tool called "SNEStool"), this is basically everything you need to do. Also, I was a bit disappointed that "Donkey Kong Country Reloaded" wasn't mentioned.

Setup ur controller with the controller setup file and then the other one will play the game.

That last one was really fun, but I didn't learn about it from here... rather, there's a site I frequent called retroachievements.org, which, using specialized emulators freely available from the download page, allows you to earn achievements made by other users (including me!), all of it adding points to an overall leaderboard. Anyway, DKC2 The Lost Levels is, at the moment, the only DKC hack with cheevos developed, and there's an easy source for both the patch file and Floating IPS (think Lunar IPS but more versatile) in the game's forum page. That means the only thing the site DOESN'T directly link you to in order to play is a ROM of the base game, which... yeah, they don't want to risk being shutdown because of paranoid game companies, so linking THAT part would violate site rules.

Cranky even talks about it at some point in the game.
