Tone gentle and smooth, while taking up the violin sound serene feeling, the next giutar full orchestration and violin. Generally this means mixing truth and holiness.

@Lagolop Thanks for the rundown on Yiddish. I am a native Yiddish speaker. re we ships passing in the night? Transliteration is probably art more than science, unless we use a system of universal phonetic spelling. But I thought the song should be "Dona Dona" instead of "Donna Donna." (Dos Kelbl same metaphor as the Passover song about "One kid that my father bought for two zuzim.")

@StJouish I agree with you about transliteration, after all Yiddish is supposed to be written with the Hebrew alphabet which unfortunately I do n to know at all. I think Dos Kelbl is a a metaphor for what happened to the Jewish ppl and doesn't have anything to do with the Passover song, but I am hardly an expert in Judaism; I just like Yiddish and other ancient languages. You are lucky to be a geboyrner refer. I wish I was.

@StJouish The real name of this Yiddish folk song is DOS KELBL, but the pronunciation of the word is like saying DONUT without the "T". Yiddish is a West German language based on Medieval High German. Same linguistic family as Dutch & English. It is the mother language of Ashkenazi Jews, and originated in the Rhineland. It is in some ways similar to other alpine Germans like Bavarian, Austrian and Swiss. Here r the words sung in Yiddish :) watch?v=KuYU_9WHD9s PS love your channel name ;)

@HyperArcticFox "Donna Donna" makes you think it is the same as the first name of Donna Reed. A more typical spelling is "Dona Dona." The vowel after the D sounds more like aw-or Dawna (give it an Hispanic accent.) Also close: Done--ah.
