Donna's VBlog 7-8-09

I recorded this video blog a year ago today - 7-8-09 - but never published it for a number of reasons. It was recorded at a time that was one of the lowest and most draining in recent memory. Some may remember that I stopped my blog for a while, I suspended my Facebook account, and I did a number of things that needed to be done to conserve energy.
I share it now because - looking back on it a year later - some of the things there are important, and helped to pull me out of the "dark" time. Perhaps it will help others, too.
Remember when you watch this - it is a year old at this point. Enjoy!

Donna, your book, Wrapped in Blue, helped me more than any other that I read while I was undergoing counseling with my gender therapist. Our stories have many similarities. I'm now 7 months on hormone replacement therapy, starting electrolysis soon, etc. I am hoping that your sister and brother are doing well. I'm your elder by about 2 years. Just saying "thank you" for your inspiration. May peace and happiness be yours.

@FanOfJanis : I appreciate your kind words, and that my story was helpful to you in your own journey. I remember a time when I felt as though I must surely be the only one who felt the way I did and the epiphany that came with finding others who shared this "gift". I never imagined that the relatively simple act of sharing honestly could have the impact that it does, and it's both humbling and an honor to be able to help. My family is doing well, and peace & happiness to you, as well!

The best part of sharing is the recognition that none of us are alone in how we're feeling regardless of the details, and the way that a story transcends the specifics of the situation to become personal for those who hear it. As for why I didn't publish it, all I can say is that there were a number of things going on at the time. Better late than never! :) ~Donna
