radio programmers and others created a fake reality that everyone hated dance music by late 1980 which was untrue but their version of reality was adopted by radio programmers. late 1982 vanity 6 was heard everywhere. summer 1981 patti austins do you love me was heard a lot too.

@@jamespatton8847 the scags who liked billy joel and pink floyd and rush created a fake reality that everyone hated dance music and there was no way to break apart this false narrative back then. people were even too ashamed to buy the music they actually liked back then.

I was looking for this song since forever since I used to hear it here in México back in 1980 but I didn't know english back then, so all I remebered was the tune but none of the lyrics nor the name of the singer since I was like 7, LOL.

this is the first donna record i didn't like at all.. never bought it and my aunt bought it for me for Christmas 81 bcos one of my cousins had also Donna on LP .. and he saw my collection and noticed I didn't have this one and assumed I didn't buy it yet but I was gonna want it ... I opened the little package and I saw the tape and the first thing I said .... I don't like this record ... didn't thank or anything about it and left it there .... next day my cousin calls me to tell me I left the tape there .... I said I will go pick it up ... and funny I moved to another city and never had to go look for that tape anymore ... the love is in control she works hard for the money and cats without claws did bought it ... soon after that I was put into the Madrid conservatory to study classical music .. I made a piano solo arrangement of 10 minutes of the Try me , I now we can make it .. one day I was playing it and my piano teacher came almost screaming telling me to stop and do those things in my house on my free time ... that was not the music we where studying there .. of course I had no piano at home and that arrangement score is long gone ... when I finished there .. I went back to the real world and bananaramas long mixes where on the market and I found those 5 tapes of old gold long mixes .... I was back to life ...

This was Donna at her very best and most creative! Maybe you didn't like the idea that she turned more in a Rock /New Wave direction, but it was all incredibly danceable, and the lyrics were some of the most personal and meaningful she had ever written. The songs are VERY catchy too! One of the problems for this album was that it was not really accepted by Urban/R & B radio..they didn't know what to do with it, and it was too "Rock" for many Black listeners at the time, but it was ahead of it's time. I cannot believe you still don't like it! If you liked Hot Stuff how did you not like Cold Love?

That why i am never liked the term "queen of disco" for Donna. Showed the world she was a brilliant in almost any genre. Donna was the first real Queen of Pop Music IMO years before Madonna, Whitney and more recent Beyonce and Taylor claim to own. It was a joke Donna did not live long enough to see being inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. RIP Donna.

Oh the hypocrisy of it all... Disco never really died it just transitioned into "Dance" pop music. The ubiquitous 4 on the floor beat morphed into variations of programmed synths and beats. Donna Summer and Moroder showed us the way with " I feel Love".

if this extended version was heard on radio in late 1980 it would have been hard to say disco and donna were has-beens back then, diana ross was all over the radio late 1980 into. 1981 but was classified as a black artist not a disco artist.
