Excelent video, shows the process, without unneeded music, or useless commentary. Need more guys doing videos like this. Love the old Drum brake test.... ROFLMAO
@DonnDIY8 жыл бұрын
I do those commentary videos too. :D Drum brakes sucked big time. Now the ATV is like planted when pulling that brake lever.

Wow, you don't know how helpful this is to me!! I recently installed those same brakes on my Foreman but they keep locking up. I had a motorcycle shop bleed them because I didn't know how to do it. I think there's water in the line because they keep locking up. Now I know how to bleed them without special tools. Thank you!!!

Mad props for using some lock tight. I know this was six years ago but I will find this conversion. Awesome work, sir. thanks for sharing.

Great video! Thanks for taking the time to make it. There definitely isn't much room between the brake caliper, bleeder fitting and the rim!

👍👏🤝 my favorite part is that you cleaned and painted the parts.
Rebuild drums or build disc brake kit...its like same price and depends how you use them, also there is only small difference in stopping power between drums and disc brakes if setup right its only drums don't have heat dissipation discs do so loose performance. Its the reason plenty of work vehicles still use drums its cost effective. Thanks for video helped make my decision

I'm cheap so I asked High Lifter for a free rear brake conversion kit but they haven't replied to my e-mail to this day. :D I bought the front kit though... Thanks for watching!

So the shinny piece that holds the caliber do you happen to know the measurements of the holes? Since I am wanting to try and put the disc brakes on my Yamaha, everything else I know how to make it fit, just haven't found the measurements of that piec, Anyways awesome video like always !

I think you can expect even better when they will be broken in. That's really a good upgrade. Are the discs stock parts from others vehicles ? I've seen the brand wilwood on the caliper,wich is pretty good.
@DonnDIY8 жыл бұрын
+michaelovitch It's night and day compared to the old drum brakes. I also think they'll perform better after being used for a while. Can't really say about the discs but the Wilwood calipers should be pretty standard. The sellers main argument was selling Wilwood. :D
Wow, you said you didn't maintain your brakes! You should see how muddy my drums are inside and they still brake like new. I'm just tired of cleaning them out all the time, what a pain in the A$$. I was looking for a less maintenance brakes and ones that would hold up better in the wet, especially when its cold, if any water got inside, it will freeze up the shoes. It's been a few years since you posted this video, you still happy with the kit? thanks for the video, Cheers.
@DonnDIY4 жыл бұрын
Yup, absolutely. Disc brakes are far more superior to the original drum brakes. 👍

It's a good update. A little pricey if you live outside of the US but still worth it.
What years is this kit good for? My boyfriend has a Honda Foreman 450s 2001 model, is this kit, or will this kit be compatible? Also is this just for the front or for the rear also?
@DonnDIY6 жыл бұрын
If you type into the search box in eBay "Honda Foreman front disc brake conversion kit" you should get several auctions and on the item page there's usually a list of ATV-s the kit fits. There's also a rear conversion kit separately available but it's more expensive than the front one.

Can this be done on a Yamaha Timberwolf? I have drum and cable I know I would need to replace both. But my question is can it be done? I've done some research and cannot find any kits.
Very cool! Do you know if they make a conversion kit for the rear drum?

Yup, they do. I've contacted them and asked for a sponsorship since I'm a cheapskate, but haven't heard back from them. :D

Nice to hear about your conversion. Surprisingly I didn't have any problems with the master cylinder. It works really well. Maybe the rotors and pads have to have a work in time so the surfaces will match better and thus grip better?

@@isaac-jk8pz No i did not ,I ran it hard this past weekend and i got in real trouble on long down hill grades! I am not happy with them at all. I talked to the company they told me they are NOT designed to lock up your wheels. I have removed them sadly and put the factory brakes and new shoes on and i can now STOP a full lock up if need be. Good luck with yours.

PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU KNOW AND THEY TRUST YOU NOW!!!! At this point in your life the world knows that you are highly involved with the internet fixing things. Your very polite. and you pay attention to what needs to be addressed with using the least amount of tools. A lot of the tools that you use are tools that you built by yourself. Always staying with same color lets people know that you built the tool and look for that video also. You tried music that is pleasing but enough armchair critics whined so you quit that. I hate that a few make the rules for the many. You never swear and keep it very professional. Although it has only been a year, I would like for you and your brother , maybe father too if they are up to it to make some videos together as there is love in that family. Yes you have a aptitude for fixing things but I know that people are hungry for your builds. Yours are not that much better but they way that you take time to edit the making of something has to double the time to make but you always show that you work hard with hand tools like a hand saw or file or things that are harder but so rewording. People see that and see how you set things up precisely so that you only do once. I am sure that you have edited out a few shortcuts, you are human first. People like you so well that they couldn't care less as long as it works. You must have over two hundred thousand subscribers and by the length of the videos and the ads on there that youtube makes bank off you.. They in turn pay you some money with the money that you make them but even then they make so much more. It may not be fair but who said life is fair??? When your father gave you a back noe, it made people very happy that your family was involved. That barn is so rock solid but unsafe and people want to tare it down and build you a new one. I think that if you have enough lumber that you should enlarge the door and make it safer.Can you fill in the ruts in the floor??? I think that the building is so solid that it would be like taring a ruin down in Rome Italy they are very hard clay and there is no shortage of clay. You are such a nice person and if your married then would she consent to making a few videos???? PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW EVEN IF IT ISN'T THEIR BUSINESS.Some people get rich here on youtube videos
