Your courteous, not lazy! Never put yourself down. To many people let others walk on them because others see weakness. I see a very hard working and most definitely man to recon with when you grow to full grown adult, Your a young adult now but time will season or hone your skills. I could of used a couple of you to raise as my own... I'm 72 now so I have seen a lot of water go under the bridge

I like how you just put it together. Obviously you know what you are going to do, but the fun of being surprised as you build this, having no idea what comes next, is never boring! Keep them coming.

Your words at the beginning are the truest words ever spoken regarding every well designed build: _"I'm sure once it's finished it's going to be yeah that's easy."_ That truth becomes even more evident if people watch someone like you working, namely b/c you make things look so easy/less complicated which in many respects is good, and with others; well not so good. Think I'll get myself a welder, ruler, hammer...and start building...😏 😬 😄 Loving this series too Donn!

You know your stuff. :) I built and fixed those Hammond polishing lathes with sanding belts, back stands, and all the trimmings, even with the pneumatic tensioners and manual tensioners. You got the right thinking with the blade tracking nailed, even with the shape of the motorcycle wheels. Pretty good.

You only have the "slack" in your square tubing, for one of two reasons. #1. Metric dimension steel 75 mm does not nest snug with 100 mm steel. # 2 the wall thickness can be adjusted to take up most of the slack! For "standard" dimension steel square tubing, a 3/16" wall thickness is optimum. 3-1/2" nests perfectly with 4" as does every other dimension in 1/2" increments. Instead of slots to allow axle movement, the entire wheel frame work can "nest" and move as a complete unit. just a bit more welding involved. What did you select as a pully size to determining the blade speed?

Great job, Donn. I've been really looking forward to watching your progress on this because I have many of the same materials. I, too, was going to use motorcycle tires. It's good to see that you had the same idea as I did for tracking adjustment. I'm using adjustable conveyor belt tensioner pillow blocks that somebody was selling locally online in the classifieds for a fraction of their worth. Essentially, they're doing the exact same thing you're doing in much the same way. It's funny to see that you have the same relationship with your brother that I do with mine. When I was a boy, I told him he had a disease that required him to eat dirt three times a day in order to survive... It's a good thing I told him about it because otherwise he may never have learned what pinworms were. Our relationship has pretty much stayed at that level ever since. Looking forward to your next video! I'll prepare my wife for my crabbiness by telling her it may not show up until next weekend. 😁
@emeltea336 жыл бұрын
Dennis C, that's funny about the dirt and pinworms. Did he ever make you smell his finger? Itching his butt before hand would allow him to inoculate you with them...

Hey, thanks. As you've already read about the motorcycle tires/wheels in the comments I suggest you wait out my trial & error on this setup. If it blows up on me I will show it in the video too. Then you can save yourself from the work involved with building this setup. :D But it will take a little more time before the first cuts are made. Yeah, brothers are great fun to communicate with. Wouldn't change it for anything. I'm pretty sure the next video will be uploaded on the next weekend so you can set your cycle accordingly. :D Thanks for watching and commenting. I mean it!

We could see the twist in the crooked frame when you cut it on the saw before you started welding ;p Was wondering how long itd take you to realize
@DonnDIY6 жыл бұрын
It was the 6 m long piece that was bent under the load of itself since it wasn't properly supported. The crookedness came from welding the frame on the cross beam of the saw head not on the leveled trailer bed. It didn't take me long to realize that it's crooked. So not much time was lost. :D

What are the odds that metal saw blade rupture or trim the tire during (prolonged) use? Is it safe (enough) to use tire instead of metal wheels?

Right now I'm at the stage of the build where I tinker on the small things and not much is showing and that gets a little bit frustrating compared to the start of the project where I added big pieces of the trailer at a time and the progress was showing faster.

Is the drive wheel (with sprocket) smaller in diameter than the old front tire so you added the 1” (25mm”) spacers to lower the axle? As it seems right now the blade won’t be level across the trailer frame.
@DonnDIY6 жыл бұрын
Nope, they're the same. I added this for a reason but I will explain this further in a future video. The levelness of the blade is achieved by the guide rollers anyway, so that's not an issue. ;)
