Dave is a great storyteller on the stage that's his gift. Take that away and his jokes wouldn't be so funny. He doesn't tell jokes like other stand up comedians. He always has a really long build up to his punchline.

I went to the Chappelle stand up show when they came to my city. Donnell opened and without a question Donnell’s opening act was objectively funnier than Dave’s. Dave’s was more thought provoking and introspective.

Nah I’ve seen Donnell doing comedy live and he is hilarious… Also after the Chappelle show ended and Dave left show biz for years Donnell and him got distant. When Dave came back Donnell let it be known he wanted to work with him again and Dave brought him on his show which boosted Donnell’s career tremendously. He’s ALWAYS GRATEFUL to Dave. I think it’s a few things, Donnell wanted to stand up for Dave but he also knew this moment would bring more attention to the special he’s about to drop. Lol so it’s a win win and Corey gets more press too.
