I purchased my open box DMT-100 for $87 and I've been thoroughly impressed by such a fantastic budget guitar. It initially had weak-sounding pickups, tuning instability, and sharp fret ends. I put a cardboard riser in the pickup cavity, and I highly recommend doing this as it will significantly improve their sound. Then I let the guitar acclimate to my home humidity and refined the frets to fix the sharp edges, also making adjustments to the guitar nut so the strings would actually fit into the cuts. I think the stock tuners are good enough to use, but I might upgrade to a quality set to make it perfect. Last thing I did was install a set of Ernie Ball regulars, the original Chinese strings weren't even good for cutting cheese.

First off, Chris, great playing! I got mine today and had similar observations. Strings will be replaced asap. Truss rod was totally slack. Can’t wait to try it at higher gain. I agree too that the bridge sounded muddy. And the fretboard is very dry. But it’s at least as good as an Ibanez Gio. My Donner Thinline is AMAZING. This one is good for the price and will be a decent platform for mods. Love the paint, the headstock, the satin neck, the neck profile…maybe different strings and a set up may help.
