@@Four6Three1Two when Michael tells Mo the Corleone family wants to buy him out Mo gets hot. Someone set the glass down in front of him and he immediately picks it up and pushes it away. And he tells Johnny Depp you don't walk out on me I walk out on you.
@hakshustletv
@hakshustletv 4 жыл бұрын
Keary jon Botley Yeah the drink was basically a way of the bartender trying to keep things civil & calm him down but by him pushing the glass aside he basically told him not to tell him to calm down as he felt disrespected. Similar in Godfather where he disregards the drink and gives Michael his full attention as he felt insulted as if Michael didn’t respect him with the way he was addressing him like some nobody who hadn’t made his bones. Then the reference of you don’t buy me out I buy you out is pretty much the same thing as the you don’t walk out on me, the correlation is there & it makes sense

I met the real Joseph Pistone, the agent that Donnie Brasco was based on, at a Barnes & Noble book event when the movie came out. Joe explained that in real life he took the Diamond Professional course at the Gemology Institute of America. This is where real jewel professionals go to learn about stones. I looked into that course and it was 10K dollars. That's how he's able to look at the ring in the light and know right away. The book also mentions this in detail. He also kept a studio apartment around York Avenue. Back then, this was common as studio apartments in the area could be rented for less than a thousand bucks. . I remember the lines around the block in the movie theaters where it played. Right in the dead of winter. I saw it at the theater on 2nd Avenue and 12th Street. The Good Ole Days

It sounds like you saw "Donnie Brasco" at the Village East Theater. It was originally the Louis N. Jaffe Art Theatre and this was where Yiddish plays were staged. Several great actors got their start playing Yiddish theater at this location, including Edward G. Robinson and Steve McQueen. (And, yes, Steve, had to learn his lines in Yiddish.) I used to live on 12th Street in the Village long ago and occasionally ran into John Cazale from time to time, who lived nearby.

Johnny Depp went from Donnie Brasco to Jack Sparrow to Willy Wonka and the list goes on and on. The guy is so so talented he could play so many different characters. And Al Pacino.. Man that guy is God's sent. Period.

The funniest part in that whole clip, and there's quite a few, is Lefty is getting ready to talk himself up like he's a big deal and then the bartender completely undermines him with his "Hey Lefty, c'mon, have a spritzer" line. LOL Lefty can't even get free alcohol in a local bar on his street.

Could've said it was a fake as an attempt to get more involved with Lefty, which ended up happening here. If he had just sold the diamond for him it might've cemented him as a trustworthy jewel fence for Lefty (and his associates) but it would still take him a long time to get any further. Or, it could've actually been a fake like he indicates in the book.

FUN FACT: The term "Fugazi" was originated in Donnie Brasco. No one really knew that it wasn't an actual word and thought it meant 'something fake'. The word really stuck and it is used quite often today and is considered Italian Slang.
