Donnie yen didn't just show respect towards his elders, he also shows respect to the host who obviously trying to make him say something bad against either Jackie or Bruce. That shows how much discipline he has. A true master.

those 2 elders saying jackies kung fu is fake kinda ticked me off. Glad Donnie could see through their BS
2 жыл бұрын
@@duncan3998 Well, Jackie's kung fu in movies (only movies) is many times not real. But that's how he is doing it. The funny style, that comes from true kung fu he knows. Jackie started to learn kung fu since he was 6-7 years old. So I trully belive he is absolutely insane in real fights. Donnie Yen is many times doing real fights in movies, or st least very artistic. But Jackie is doing it in different. Maybe that's why they said that. Two different masters but both are still masters

Well....to be able to doing kung fu in jackie chan level, you need to know kung fu more than basic level. They tried to mock a real kung fu master, lol.

@ fighting level: Bruce Lee > Donnie Yen>>>>>Jet Li >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Jackie chen, if you show this order to asian, they will all agree, because the type of kung fu jackie chen learnt when he is growing up is mostly for perform/acting only rather than real fight, that's why the left old guy ask donnie can jackie really fight (Donnie know the answer but he need to respect the senior) and the old guy on the right hand side help him to answer said jackie can act like he can fight.

Absolutely, a complete contrast to the other two. As for "real kung fu", Donnie's kung fu is no more or less "real" than Bruce or Jackie's. Donnie's the son of a wushu master (Master Bow Sim Mark) and his training was in forms and demonstration, not combat. His reputation for being hard as nails is from him getting into brawls and not from any formal fighting or competition. Jackie's operatic training is well documented in its brutality, as is the time he spent as a hot-headed youngster getting into streetfights. He also holds a legitimate black belt in Hapkido. Of course he wouldn't be winning fights now as he's over 60 years old, with a hole in his skull and a body that's chock full of damage. Joe Lewis says Bruce Lee was legit. Chuck Norris says Bruce Lee was legit. Joon Rhee says Bruce Lee was legit. Those three are as credible as they come. Terrible, disrespectful question, but handled perfectly by Donnie. He's a superb martial artist, an incredible athlete and a superb role model.

True but in a real fight Bruce himself said he would eye gouge, knee cap, hit the windpipe or kick his opponent in the groin in the first second then move in for the kill. After that his first move fight is over. It's not just his speed, reaction time and fitness. He had the hitting power of the average heavyweight boxer and he had an insight into biomechanics, isometrics and his training methods were way ahead of his time. I still haven't seen any martial artist or fighter since that have his attributes and skillset.

oot That's why Wong Jack Man was admitted into the ER after his fight with Bruce Lee, right? Because Bruce Lee hit like a heavyweight? Nope, Wong Jack Man went back to work as usual after his fight against Bruce Lee, with just a few scars on his face. If Bruce Lee really hit like a heavyweight, Wong Jack Man would be admitted to the hospital after the fight.

Jackie Chan has an interview on the David Letterman show in which he told a story about him and his Peking opera brothers getting into a brawl w/ a bunch of biker gangs. They won the fight within half a minute or so, then ran away. Jackie's fist was wounded, and he refused to go to the hospital due to police activity. After a couple of days, the wound continued to swell, oozing out watery blood. Thinking that it's a broken bone, he tried to push it back in place but something popped out instead. "It's a tooth!"

According to news reports by Hong Kong news channels in the late 1990s, Yen was at a nightclub with his then girlfriend, Joey Meng. Inside the nightclub, Joey got harassed by a troublesome gang that had taken an interest in her. Yen warned them to leave her alone but to no avail. As Yen and Joey left the club, the gang followed and attacked Yen. According to the news, Yen beat up eight members of the gang who were later hospitalized.

Do people really have to keep asking the same question "can Bruce Lee really fight", when you dedicate your life to the martial arts, which involves self defense and fighting, then yea, you would know something about fighting, id feel sorry for anyone who dedicated his life to martial arts like Bruce did and not know how to fight. its true that Bruce did not have many fights but how many street fights did people from the UFC, MMA, or martial arts movie stars like Van-Dam, Steven Seagul, or Michael Jai White have outside of the ring or movie studios. we know the guys from the UFC or MMA can fight but what about big mouths like Seagul or Michael Jai White, they do nothing but shoot their big mouths off and thats not enough proof that you can fight. Bruce Lee proved he can fight and quite easily from what witnesses have said.

Donnie is just a humble person and don't want to look down on others despite being one of the greatest martial artist in real life. One even said that Donnie's skill as a martial artist would beat anyone in a street fight.

Bruce Lee would definitely win! I remember reading some kung fu magazines from the nineties! There was an interview with one guy who was around Bruce Lee back then. I have to look for that magazine! Anyway, I remember in the interview he talked about Bruce Lee and he mentioned no one dared to mess with Bruce Lee. I think Bruce is gone so long now that people believe the hype. Jackie, Jet, and Donnie admit they would be no match for Bruce! As the years go by people even believe Michael Jai White would stand a chance against Bruce! What next!? I wouldn't be surprise if people believe Lindsay Lohan or Jim Carrey could even beat Bruce in less time then a fart gone in the wind in an AZ dust storm!

Emory Whitehair Bruce lee was first and foremost an actor and whilst he was clearly gifted at king fu, he was certainly not the best fighter in the world or if all time as many allude. I’m sure he would have easily beaten any normal person but actual athletes that fight for a living would have had an easy fight against him. Knowing how to move correctly and being fast isn’t the same as actuall battle experience.
@waismartialarts1
@waismartialarts1 6 жыл бұрын
Except Bruce had plenty of actual battle experience. Not only did he create his own style of martial arts he also grew up street fighting. So no he was not first and foremost an actor, he was first and foremost a fighter then a martial artist, then an actor. He was considered a beast to take on and was incredibly dedicated to martial arts and philosophy behind martial arts. The entire reason he created his form was because he wanted a style that was good for street fighting. He knew how to handle himself in a fight and to say any "actual athlete" would have it easy fighting him is just silly
@Irrelevantusername000
@Irrelevantusername000 6 жыл бұрын
Okxer street fighting is nothing. When street fighters face of against trained combat athletes do you know what always happens? Bruce was an actor his martial arts style was created as a mix of boxing and wing chun this was because these two martial arts combined make an astheticaly appealing martial art to put on film. Like I said he would easily beat your average joe, but would have easily been beaten by a trained fighter ( not an untrained street fighter as there is a big difference )
@waismartialarts1
@waismartialarts1 6 жыл бұрын
Where are you getting that information? Because Lee himself stated that the whole reason he wanted to develop his form was specifically because he wanted a form that would be serve well in a real fight. I am a martial artist, I know that just street fighting doesn't mean everything in a fight but I was referring to how you said moving correctly and being fast isn't the same as actual battle experience. Which is very true, but my point was that lee did in fact have actual battle experience, plenty of it actually. He created his form because he wanted to mix the parts of the many forms he had already studied with what he learned worked in a real fight. He was versed in both martial arts fighting and down and dirty fighting. He also was not first and foremost an actor, his main passion and first passion was always martial arts. This can be shown by the many schools he opened and taught at for a variety of different forms. He certainly didn't need to do so, he was making plenty of money from acting. But he had a passion and a deep understanding for martial arts and wanted to teach it to others.

Okxer....you need to do some research, first and foremost Bruce was an actor, he started out as a child actor in Hong Kong and was in many movies. His family talks about him growing up, he went to private schools and had a personal driver. He may have fought in some rooftop smokers and we know he fought Wong Jack Man but he wasnt fighting in the streets. Funny thing though, many people had fights as kids..who counts them?

It seems like some people here arent real Jackie Chan fans cause if they where they would definitly know that Chans stunts,comedy and acting are just a bonus.Hes real talent are his kung fu skills.Both Jackie Chan,,Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao knows like all the martial arts stiles on the planet and are werry versatile in there fighting ability.The 3 dragons are no joke and are an amazing combo and lojal kung fu brothers for life and when it comes to practising martial arts to a torture like state from 7 years to 17 years like Chan did really teaches you respect,humbleness,loyalty,disciplin and to live in harmony with a strong mind and confident.Jackie even said on letterman that he beated up a motorcycle gang in his teens after he finished the peking opera school and got a tooth stuck in his fist.He literally beated up like 7 guys with a tornado of combo moves like a god damn tekken game and after that they where all down and just like Lee he was fighting alot on the streets of hong kong in his teens.Who does that?I tell you who.Jackie fucking Chan!So please people before some of you say he is just an actor,stuntman and so on learn some facts first and watch his hong kong movies where his fight scenes are superb.Dont judge him from his crappy american movies with bad fight scenes like rush hour,the tuxedo and so on.Watch his hong kong movies from the 70s,80s and the 90s and see what this man really are capable of.Bruce was first but Chan took the art of combat to a new level and yes Donnie Yen are an amazing martial artist too.All 3 are great legends.Peace.

This reply is for those two ignorant people. I post Jackie's quora reply to a question here.if you guys don't believe me you guys can check this out. "When I was young, I learned Southern Style, Northern Style, then after that I learned Wing Chun, Hapkido, karate, boxing…all kinds of things. So my style is chop suey: everything." - Jackie Chan His qoura account is verified one. Just because we want to praise someone we don't need to degrade someone. But I am really happy with Donnie yen. He doesn't have the headweight or the respect he has for his elders is something we need to appreciate. And we everyone know how clever is Jackie and common he's stunt choreographer too and he writes his own stunts.. mastering in one thing is different but creativity and innovating with it is different..and his persistent to the pain his top level.. And most importantly he has got the balls to challenge his own death to be frank.

Bruce Lee was way ahead of his time. He realized most Martial Arts doesn't work in real fighting, it is to rigid and predictable. He learned all forms of martial arts and tried to simplify them and make them faster and stronger because he wanted it to work in a real fight His training was also ahead of its time. He weights, isometric, and cardio is his training. I have no doubt he would have destroyed Donnie Yen. Probably with a takedown into a arm bar.

It's not that it wasn't work in real fight.. after all, those 'traditional' Martial Arts was also created by and from real fights experiences.. what changes is the habitual 'ethic' of the fighters involved, what seen okay or not to do in fights.. in the old days, when those Martial Arts was conceived, in the general and common fighting situation.. whether (s)he was a good or even a very bad guy would still abide to certain unspoken rules of do and don't in a fight..
