He is heavier, has more experience in combat sports, and is probably a lot more of a heavy hitter than Donnie. It’s just not a fair match up, because their skills in their respective styles are probably equal, more or less, but their weights and physical capabilities aren’t.

For what it’s worth those ten were incredibly inexperienced students relying on numbers mostly to humiliate their opponents. (Master law who died after fighting three, subsequently prompting master Ip to call out ten) going up against a man who for the better part of 30 years kept his beastly ability hidden away, but also just witnessed one of his closest equals die (he was actually practicing with master law earlier near the beginning of the film) suddenly at the hands of some pencil neck essentially teabagging because it was 3 v 1. This fight gave both ip man and mike (i forgot his ip man character name) justice Ip man can't defeat mike, he knew by the 1st punch but he still tries anyway, until he got overwhelmed, he finally decides to be on the defensive and focuses on the challenge Mike is a beast in this, not a single hit from ip man actually affects him, his hit damages ip man a lot whenever it connect and he stays on the offensive almost the entire fight, won't be suprised his last uppercut to the chin woule knock ip man out of commission. But last hit ip man is faster and he stopped due to knowing time is up so he didn't follow through.
