There's a river in Blue Ridge, GA, called #Fightingtown Creek that is a tributary of the Ocoee River, and the name is an incomplete translation of its native Cherokee name, which comes from its vicinity to a site where warring tribal leaders met.
In 2021 the Friends of Fightingtown Creek Nature Preserve was launched, and in 2023-ish, The Southeastern Trust for Parks and Land, Inc. (SE Trust), created a park and nature preserve project on 190 acres of natural land located +/- 3 miles west of Blue Ridge, GA. The property is wholly owned without debt or obligation by SE Trust. Trail builders Ken Nix and Scott Stewart lead the trail building. Ken’s other SE Trust trail projects include Talking Rock Nature Park and Pumpkinvine Creek Nature Park..
Personally, I loved this trail system. It is fast, flowy, quiet, the loops are well stacked and signage is great. An #emtb is a blast on this trail but really, it is a little TOO MUCH BIKE for around there. It's a really long trek from my house, but I do plan to go back on a CW day with the singlespeed and see how much I like it then.
