Yay so glad the weather was bad we could get out of work and have you yet again our gateway to the weekend! Great Prem! What a lovely looking castle from the approach and those two turrets but when Brett did his awesome piloting you could really imagine what it was like in its entirety! And of course not forgetting the lovely narrator! Have a great weekend guys and thank you for another fab video! 👍💕📌

👍13 quite emotional being back at your premiere at 5pm GMT on a friday, such an amazing start to the weekend and has been for such a long time. That being said there was more innuendo flying than there was cannonballs during the siege. It was great fun. Will rewatch this one to take in its history more completely. Spot on presentation as always, you guys are the very best at this, forever shall you reign! ❤

Hi Alessa. Another charming castle/ruin ....The ruin stands proudly...Thank you for educating me this castle survived for 18 of months during Civil War. I can imagine how this castle was built to stand still against the siege.. I may check out Civil War in the UK to see how the county was upside and down back in a day. A little sad to know the ruin was locked up..for the safety..understandable..hopefully restoration may come. Thank you . Alessa, you make my day every week.

It looked a lonely castle when walking up to it and the only time I had previously heard of Donnington Castle before when they used to have the Monsters of Rock music festivals there. It does have a very varied and bloody history but a shame the gatehouse was locked when you were there. No wonder the castle looks so ragged after a 12 day bombardment and then getting demolished, just imagine what it would look like if this had not happened, cheers Alan

The Monsters of Rock took place in a different, albeit similarly named, place in Leicestershire. However the 70's kids show "A Hitch in Time" was filmed at this castle.

Fantastic stuff!! An amazing history this one. I love the Civil War period and it was incredible what happened here - you can just imagine the Cavalier commander and his troops marching proudly out after holding it for so long! A great perspective from the air as always. The views across Newbury and the surrounding area are beautiful. Have a great weekend A and B.

Glad you enjoyed it and thank you lovely one. Apparently the tower is only open like once a year, which is crazy when there is so much beauty inside from pictures ive seen. It'll remain a mystery till we get to venture there again soon. Ooo very much look forward to your wanders in Cornwall, Berry Pomeroy is a great one, but i think that's further up than Cornwall, but loved your Restormel one, so who knows, we're going to enjoy whatever you choose to grace us with! ⭐👍🏻

Beautifully presented gargoyles were also intended to symbolise 'guardianship' of the building and to ward off evil spirits in vlogging around some of the church ruins in doing that and reading the info boards it was only then i discovered they are waterspouts that are designed to throw rain water away from the outside wall of a building. Derived from the Old French gargouille or clear the throat . 18months is some going to hold out , have a fantastic weekend guys

Not to be an annoying commenter, but I saw in the english-heritage site that they don't permit drone footage. because of insurance and blah blah. Careful they don't get you in trouble!
@PinnedonPlaces2 ай бұрын
You're not an annoying commenter :D you are right indeed! But we don't lift from the English heritage site, we ahere to the CAA guidelines and drone 120m above :) totally understand the comment though :D
@PinnedonPlaces2 ай бұрын
Ahh and this one also is unmanned so droning is very much still allowed. In other castles like Kenilworth etc they are more stricter, but we do adhere to the CAA regulations and make sure that we do not obstruct :) hope you enjoyed the video though :)
