I remember years ago when Donny was younger and the personality he had when he was fighting hard to make his name in the sport... man he has grown to have the true personality of a champion on the track and off.

I’ve been a fan of Donny since I was 5, when he’d come down to Australia and race at Archerfield. He won every race I ever saw of him in person. Now he’s not coming back to Australia to race I’m sad but I’m planning on going to see him race at the Knoxville nationals in the next few years.

it's been a dream of mine to come from the USA to Australia to watch Donny race, but who knows if that'll ever happen due to the closing of Archerfield Speedway or the Eastern Creek situation. maybe someday (i'm 45 now) 🙏🤞

As a Sprint car fan I enjoyed taking my kids to see the World of Outlaws at Husets speedway and seeing the Fireworks if they were showing on the 4th of July. We would go just about every year. When I was a 4 to 5 year old Kid I remember my Dad and Mom taking me to some Sprint car races but then they never really took me anymore but I still have some slight memory. Growing up I liked drag racing and Muscle cars and was into Football. But watching the World of Outlaws and sprint car racing as a Fan is more entertaining and makes me wonder why I didn't try to get a Sprint car or try to save and build one from the ground up and wish I had the know how. Seeing Donny Schatz for the first time and getting to follow him more as I started to watch him. I started to see a lot of myself through Donny Schatz because I like that tough competitor he is on the track races you clean and off the track he makes time for everyone and signs autographs giving 100 percent of his time even if he is tired or has to get things ready for the next day or get loaded up to go elsewhere. He just shows how much he cares and wants to see a smile on his fans face to take home from the track. I know there are times where a guy tries to save up to go to the races and everything cost so much and you may have little money to buy something from the T Shirt trailer but I still try to buy something just support my favorite driver and have something to remember Donny Schatz. I always say he should be the guy that fans want to be like. I started going to the Knoxville Nationals for the past 2 years and it is one of the most exciting races I have ever attended. It's kind of far but not to far. It is well worth the time. Pockets are usually empty on the way home but I will always have that memory especially when Donny Schatz won his 11th Knoxville Nationals and put a Ford powered Sprint into victory lane for the first time last year and this year a 3rd place victory with him winning on opening day for the first night.

One moment that stands out to me happened many years ago when he was campaigning for "Rookie of the Year" and I happened to be in Vegas taking it all in. Hanging in the pits during qualifying and mentioned to him and his dad that I was in town from Minot. Dad took me under his wing, showed me the trailer, the nice Semi pulling it, tried to give me a bent rim for a coffee table...treated me like family.

There are two different kings the first and best of all time is Steve Kinser, of his generation. The second being Donnie of his generation. The things those 2 men did in a race car have shaped the sport into the best it's ever been in my honest opinion. There are about 8-10 guys who can win on any given night. The talent we see and the racing we get to watch is more spectacular than most eras of any genre of racing. It's truly remarkable!

Words of wisdom from Donnie Schatz: when someone shows their nose under you or on the top side move to their line and block their line. Never liked Schatz's style of dirty racing.

The only thing I have against Donny is that pesky blue oval on his car.

That’s the ONLY reason Donny has many new fans. No one wants to see 30 SBC boat anchors race each other. I’d rather watch fuckin paint dry

that blue oval has cost him dozens of wins. I think he went from winning 18 a year to maybe winning only 18 since he swapped 4 years ago now?

Yah I hope that deal was worth it because it’s been more like an anvil around his neck in a lake than a benefit.

Well, the first thing you gotta remember is the small block chev architecture race engine has been developed, refined and tuned to perfection for decades now. I say architecture because there virtually isn't one genuine GM part on them , they are all aftermarket. Ford engines, same way. Toyota too, but they never built a vehicle with a pushrod V-8 until they built their NASCAR engine anyway. Which kind of does not seem right. But what the heck I guess, because none of them use any stock components anyway! About thirty years ago ford powered sprint cars did well for Dave Blaney, Jeff Swindell and a few others. But they were using Cleveland canted valve cylinder head designs which are no longer allowed. Schatz's TSR engines are using something of a Windsor type inline valve cylinder heads and they can make power, but they have been having trouble getting the power band delivery just right as I understand it. And to, if any other brand engine teams came out with gangbuster power and won too much they would be weight penalized or something, you know this.
