+Pz Li yes!! We knew it would look amazing judging from the pictures, but going there and seeing all the people interacting with the building was truly a beautiful sight. Wow. Still get goosebumps thinking back of it!

This is really amazing. It is true what he said about the social aspect of the building. In terms of form it does something else that is interesting (similar to Guangzhou) The building is a landscape but the interior is a body. Buildings tend to polarize or invert this relationship. This is up there with his former colleague's work, I am undecided about which I prefer Harbin or Heydar Aliyev, I feel this is a much richer experience than Heydar but that Heydar's form is as close to perfection as any building will get.

+Devin du Plessis hi Devin, thanks for your in depth comment. That's a really interesting point of view on the body vs landscape. Yes indeed! This one strongly aligns with Zaha's Heydar Aliyev project. It's one we are trying to visit as well! Hopefully soon. We strongly feel Zaha's Baku project is indeed as close as perfection as a building can get. Smooth, strong, but subtle. The Harbin Opera House is close in that aspect as well.

I love the surface design of this project too with the iterative 'Louvres' (with a captial 'l' haha, as a glass detail. I am also interested in the building that is next to the Heydar Aliyev, I have but a satellite image of it and have no further knowledge of it. But alas the Azerbaijani government is an oppressive one and is clamping down on things like religious freedom. In a further thrust of the rigid stance the street views have been removed which is why I'm in the dark on this one lol.

Whenever I see building such as Guangzhou twin towers I have the question of how they stand. I never seem to find any information on their structure. Can you help leading me to some site that has any info?

How did you get backstage?? I just came back from Oslo Opera House and they were very strict about where people could/couldn't go. Great insight!
@donotsettle7 жыл бұрын
+T S usually is the same with any opera building in China as well. But we collaborated with the architects so they made sure we could get backstage. Which was obviously breathtaking as you can imagine!!
