Donavan is a still a champion. 1966 was so delightful with tunes like this. I drink Mello Yello to go with my burger and curly fries.

I was totally obsessed with this song back when it came out. The rythym, the melody, the key changes. And the lyrics. Hearing it brings that time back. And it's still irresistible.

Most singers voices deepen with age making it a bit more difficult to sing particular songs that require higher notes, however, it appears that Donovan's voice has held out.

You should look up the great interview he did on Terry Gross Fresh Air on NPR about 10 years ago. It's about the time he released a new album titled Beat Cafe. In the interview Donovan performs a solo version of his Season of the Witch and Hurdy Gurdy Man. He talks about where he got the D7 cord for Season of the Witch [... from Bert Jansch.] It's an historic interview as he mentions the famous Bert Jansch of the Pentangle group from England. Later the famous Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin plagiarizes and steals Bert Jansch's number Blackwater Side, and Page renames it Black Mountainside.

He talks about where he got the D7 cord for Season of the Witch [... from Bert Jansch.] It's an historic interview as he mentions the famous Bert Jansch of the Pentangle group from England. @frankkolton1780 Жыл бұрын
Jimmy Page is on the original release but Bonhan was not, the British jazz drummer and session man Tony Carr is playing the conga. Another prolific session player that can be heard on the record (the electric bass, not the double bass) is John Paul Jones, it's the first time him and Page played on the same recording. Jones would then appear on quite a few Yardbird recordings.
