People who have paid thousands of dollars to be part of the 3 year cruise and still have not been able to board the ship have had another setback. Now people are wondering if the cruise ship is in finacial trouble. Is the Carnival Vista going to be repaired in time for it's next cruise? Herricane delays cruise ship return as the port is closed to all vessels.

It was a 15 year agreement with the owners and it was to take 3 1/2 years to travel the world. So they was going to travel the globe 4 times. Some of those people spent a lot of money redesigning their cabins. One couple bought three cabins, had the walls gutted and had a very nice apartment built in.

Instead of dedicating one ship to residents, I think the ships should designate 4 or 5 suits to residential cabins

It's a different style, quite apart from not wanting to go to the same places over and over again. For example, week-long cruises will have 7 menus in their restaurants. For the next group of people they will repeat the rotation. I have a friend who did back to back to back to back on the Disney Wonder. She got pretty sick of the menu. Also, these big cruises have two or three amazing shows that repeat. I believe on these residential cruises they have entertainers come on board who are local to where they are at the time.

I hope the residential cruise line is not in financial difficulty. It would be bad for another one to go bankrupt. But it is bad that they haven't been able to depart yet.

Hopefully they get the repairs done soon. And everyone can enjoy there cruise. Like you said the repairs and cost must be very expensive. Its great they took care of those people.

The cruise lines will crash hard. The top % of Americans are doing well but almost everyone else is struggling. Most of my friends and I would take 3-4 cruises a year and are down to 1-2. Some quit altogether, needing to save $$$. They keep raising prices too.😮 we went on 3 in 2024, one 7 day Carnival in the Caribbean, a 12 day British Isles cruise and a Viking River cruise from Switzerland to Paris for the Olympics. We have 3 next year as well. However, it is getting tougher to swing it.😅 the 3 year cruise company is nothing more than a scam.

I'm on the same page as you about this residential cruise ship. If they really felt they'd be seaworthy in another 7 days, they would not have any problem continuing to accommodate these loyal would-be residents! For just one more week? NO. This move shouts that they know they will not be ready! I'm afraid they are on the brink of bankruptcy. What will that mean for all of these investors? I wonder if they will have any recourse at all? Or will they just be out of luck? 😢... AND MONEY.

At this point I would not book that ship until after all of engines have been fixed. I will wait for at least 2 months before I would book .

If these kinds of ships/trips were a feasible money maker, the big cruise lines would be offering them too. After all the problems this ship has had trying to pass the seaworthiness tests, I would be afraid to set sail on her in case we found ourselves stranded at sea when something else went wrong.

It is hard to feel sorry for people who have sold everything and put lots of money down to go on a residence cruise on a line that has never sailed because they have not yet gotten a ship yet. That would be a big red flag to most people. Remember what P.T. Barnum said?

I’ve heard it was $500K per month, so $2M Villa Vie paid out. Also the ship is called the Odyssey and Villa Vie Residencies promising more ships in the future. If you buy a Villa (Stateroom) you can hop ships and just pay the monthly fee. Some residents hope to sail for 15 years on these ships.

I think it makes for a bad business move to make them pay for their own. If it were my company, I would foot the bill as long as it took and if I didn’t know it would go fairly soon then I’d just offer everyone a full refund. People won’t forget what they’ve done here.

The ship is fine financially it has big founders backing. Big problem is employee who was handling hotel and transportation unfortunately had to tend to personal things so they have nobody to handle this. It is better that the passengers take care of themselves. I was on this to begin they gave us trips to canary islands not Tahiti. Alot of us just booked segments. When they take care of hotels for so many different people it's a very hard task. I found it to be nothing more than a minor inconvenience. I plan to rejoin for many segments in the future.

Something is definitely wrong with this situation! And they're talking about onboard credit, some people are like myself, they are not planning on spending but very little on the ship, so on board credit credit is not suitable for everybody!

If it sounds too good to be true…. How can anyone think that $100k, even in an inside cabin, is enough to sail a 3.5 year cruise. I am looking at a 90 day cruise right now on a mid priced cruise line and it will be $40k for an inside cabin and that is just the fare with no inclusions.

It’s not just $100K…. They also have to pay $1,750 per person per month for some drinks per day, food, laundry, housekeeping etc.

Maybe the fix for Carnival is a one way cruise - all expenses paid - to the scrap yards. Be on board when we run it up on the beach at full throttle. Would sell out in 8 hours. The Villa Vie sounds like a "Three Hour Tour". The cost structure of this business model sounds like it has lots of hidden fees that are subject to change in the future and possibly without warning.

I was just about to post the same update. Depending on where they're staying, $200 a day won't cover 100% of expenses for people but should cover a decent percent. One of the couples with a KZbin channel said they were flying home because that was the cheaper option vs paying for a hotel in Belfast for 7 days, but another couple with a KZbin channel found a B&B that's about 2 hours away from the ship that's under $100 a night. So if people get a bit creative, they may be OK as long as the ship is ready relatively soon. Unfortunately, failing the sea trials seems to imply that the ship won't be ready in a week, so I guess we'll see. I really feel for the people who have put so much money into this and are still waiting. There's no way I would be as patient as some of them are being. Fingers crossed that it works out...

If the world cruise crew hasn't been allowed onboard yet I'd say embarking in 7 days is a no go. It takes the crew time to get acclimated so I would want them to have a couple of weeks. It won't be a dream cruise for the first month of being onboard I'm guessing.🫣 Carnival Vista guests should be allowed the option of last minute itinerary changes with no penalties. If I was booked I'd already moved my booking and not banked on CCL maybe possibly getting their stuff together. Like people used to say "Ain't nobody got time for that!"

This sounds like the most expensive scam to date. They know that ship will never sail. They just wanted the money. Now these people have to pay their own way. Once you start paying your own way it will be easier to cancel the whole thing.
