I've been so thrilled to catch 80's reggae when it came out. A good friend was n2 Marley but to me he was crude n old school with bad mixes. So when dub came out I was blown away. I've found using filters that let you control the Q and the frequency simultaneously gets a sound like this. As you sweep the filter into the mids, turn the Q up as you sweep up and smooth out the filter when you let the bass and sub through, you get this weird phasing and that harsh mid sound that is just begging for delay.
@mjstecyk3 жыл бұрын
High Q settings often attenuate bass on many different types of filters, a phenomena well known in the world of synthesizers.
@bonistik3 жыл бұрын
Any particular (hardware) filter you would suggest to achieve this?
@jh96673 жыл бұрын
@@bonistik Like I said, any filter that has cut-off and Q knobs that can be operated independently should do. Do hardware filters allow for the smooth changing of filter curve steepness? I can imagine only the more high end stuff would let you do this. Unless digital hardware is your thing, in which case save yourself the money and just abuse your DAWs vanilla parametric EQ or filter plugins.
