To add to your comment in the beginning, as an Orthodox Christian with 2000 years of tradition and Scripture understanding through the Holy Fathers and Saints, yes the disciples and their successors (nowadays priests of the Orthodox Church) have the right to forgive sins, as given to them in Acts. Of course they do not forgive out of their own accord but through God's grace (henceforth that is why our confessions arent done in a booth in a 1 to 1 with a priest, but instead in front of an Icon of Christ with the priest as the witness.). Hope this helped, I know western protestant denominations struggle with this a lot ! Also Lawbringer is goated 💪🏿
