That's such a good idea, thank you so much! I didn't even think of making it myself. I never buy ssamjang because I don't eat it enough and don't want to throw it away, but I still crave it sometimes. Thank you!

Couldn’t agree with you more! I make my own just for the reasons you listed. I did the same in Korea as well. So glad you made this video; it’s great advice.

as korean. i will comment you bean paste. salty, flavor pepper paste. sweety, thickness peanut butter, seasame oil. flavor you can add any more spice or pastes you want. it's like pizza. you customize it. for example. you can syrup for your taste or crushed garlic or chopped onions. even mayonaise.

I generally agree, but one thing I'm not sure of is adding sweetener. I think all 3 of those store bought condiments you mentioned have something like corn syrup included. Not sure whether premade ssamjang would have more or less than the two separate components. It's so hard finding food without any sweeteners, like sugar, aspartame, corn syrup, etc lol

I love this! Can you try making homemade ice cream?? maybe try Korean flavors?

that made sense, although I go through that ssma jang tub in a month or two, hahah - still made sense to make it when you need it - and I get to experiment more on the 2 base ingredients - thanks bro

I always keep ssamjang in the fridge since I have it with everything. I'm not much of a cook, so I get the ones in the green tub from Emart.

I was at a restaurant today and saw one of these. I was hoping to buy ssamjang, but only gochujang was available. Good thing that restaurant knows well.

I approve this message! It's cheap and easy to make at home once someone has explained what the components of ssamjang actually are (like when you first figure out what prawn cocktail sauce actually is). Also, even though only a tiny amount is required when eating a 'lettuce-bulgogi bomb' it's NON-NEGOTIABLE that ssamjang gets an invite to the party. It changes everything, even that tiny dab of it. Magic.

I disagree. You can use the leftover ssamjang to eat with cut vegetable sticks as a snack 24/7. I like cucumber and carrot sticks dipped in ssamjang as a snack so it never goes moldy in my house.
