Just a few travel rods that are multi section and will fit into your suitcase and save on air line fees all these rods come in a travelling tube for protection inside your suitcase The Shimano Exage stc specimen rods they come in both 2 and 3/4 as well as 3LB test curves ,both rods are 12 foot long “Bison” also make a range of multi section rods that have a good following and again come in specimen and beachcaster type rods “ Shakespeare” make a range of multi section spinning rods that are available in the expedition range and cover the range of spinning rods “Acer” also makes a decent multi section rod All these rods are on E bay and unfortunately the Exage is not made anymore and good second hand rods can fetch more than new as can the Shimano Beastmaster travel surf rod that I have not included as a second hand rod went for £130 recently I hope that this helps anyone who thinks that they can only get telescopic rods, yes I agree that there are some good telescopic out there and I’ve got a nice old Abu but I still like a good rigid rod as for me love used an Exage for the past lord knows how many years and have tangled with most fish from big snapper to barramundi and Barracuda

Two piece rods are just awkward. I have a mid range SUV and my 2 piece Diawa Ninja 10 foot 20-60g rod is nightmare, it breaks down to 5 foot and doesn't fit in the boot so I have to open the boot door and slide it in-between the two front seats, it's not practical. So I purchased a Diawa Whisker 10 foot 4 piece travel rod and its a dream. Performs just aswell as the 2 piece version, can store it anywhere in the car/house. Putting the sections together and lining up the guides isn't an issue because am used to doing that with Fly rods. I have 3 other travel rods now and I wouldn't ever go back to two piece rods. I also like the fact you can just fit a travel rod into a backpack and go hiking with having both hands free. There's nothing worse rock hoping, crossing rivers and having to hold onto a rod.
