Maven-empowered Hillock was already a rough start, but I guess they wanted to gatekeep the level 8 achievement a bit. The Malachai and Depraved Trinity fights, however, were absolutely brutal for my poor ZDPS RF guy.

Vaal Oversoul also spawns something that can have piety beam - thats how i lost my guardian. I think its a small sentry type of add that spawns it, unfortunately i was far from it and not expecting it so got absolutely zapped. I'm pretty casual so probably not going to try this gauntlet again but thought I'd mention in case it helps someone be wary for it - sounds like if you're on top of killing all the temple guys vigilantly it shouldnt be an an issue

I believe those were the things that have the rotating corrupting blood beams. Lost my first shadow to that (had 10 stacks by the time I noticed).

At least 300 max life per act and you need capped res even earlier than normal. You need corrupted blood immunity for the act2 boss onwards, probably just on a life flask. Lots of the added boss mechanics inflict corrupted blood. Monsters start doing phys as extra chaos starting at act 6, right when you get your resistances -30, so getting chaos up to non-negative at least is important there. And you cannot neglect damage and just be ZDPS tank, for the mechanics like act4/act9 maven stuff it's by far easiest to just blow him up with damage than it is to dance around those for any amount of time. Sometimes the gap in the maven beam goes outside the area so you must blink it or continue rotating with it

@@chossmedia CB immunity not quite mandatory on Oversoul bcuz you can just kill the architects before they spawn the CB thing, however I'd grab the mastery before A6 brutus. You get chaos res nodes anyways, so CB immunity is just 1 point to trivialize one of the clunkiest fights

IMO, 1 act get at least 2 saphire rings, by act 2 you should cap your resistances helping Alira and crafting the lacking resistances on gear (the main problem is the architects in act 3 boss), before piety or entering the belly of the beast try to roll a CB and bleeding flask and that's pretty much it until you get to finish act 5 and try to cap your chaos resistance ( at least 2 amethyst rings). As a side note try to always keep stacking life on gear and tree, by the end of act 5 I had close to 2k life.

tip : don t attack him when he s red "enraged" and turn in circle next to him, or jump on you is annoying spawn mobs

It's pretty free with a ranged class. Of course it might bite your ass in act 9 to be running witch instead of templar, but anything to be free from the hard to heal damage back beach.

If you are playing a melee start class, there's no shame in full clearing twilight strand before fighting Hillock. Doing so gets you to L2, which is a sizable amount more life along with the passive point. You can also find armor, which helps a ton.
