Yet another comprehensive product review !!
One of the overated products from 2022, jump starter packs has been around for a while but 2020 was there the year they became so compact and less expensive so the average consumer can afford one and keep one in the car !! However, you don't necessarily need to have one if you look after your car and got the luxury of having roadside assistance.
Hope you find this interesting !!

My car battery died twice within 2 weeks last month. AAA arrived the 1st time. Told me the alternator needed to be replaced. Towed car to dealer. Dealer said battery was good but found $2000.00 in other repairs. My cost for battery charge and diagnostic: $180.00 Battery dies again due to non-use and cold weather. This time I bought the NOCO CB40 Boost +. 1st attempt; no results. Pressed override button. 2nd attempt; car starts. So I let the car run a half hour, as suggested. Used this as an opportunity to return the jump box to full charge via the cigarette lighter. I'm a happy camper.

I’ve got this for my motorcycle. Also got this accessory the NOCO GBC007 47-Centimeter Boost X-Connect Adapter Extension Cable For GB20, GB40, GB50 and GBX45 UltraSafe Lithium Jump Starters. The cable is just right so I don’t have to remove the battery cover if the inevitable happens. Also there is a hard case which can be bought as well.

I have had this same unit for years now and it works perfectly. It stays fully charged for months in my truck. I have started other people's cars several times as well as my side-by-side UTV in the middle of nowhere. I never take off on a hunting trip on my UTV without it. Where I hunt it can be 7 miles back to camp and that's way too far for an old fat guy to walk. I have left auxillary stuff on by accident twice and the unit saved me both times.

This video is hot trash. It actually triggered me to be angry It's so offensive. I mean the logic you don't need this device if you do maintenance or have roadside assistance is so flawed it hurts my soul. I won't re-write my comment but if you are curious why the logic is flawed you can find my comment on this video. I can assure people tho that roadside assistance isn't as reliable as they think and maintenance doesn't cover leaving keys in the ignition. Not to mention other niche reasons for motorcycle riders like me or ppl who live or work in remote areas with poor GPS. This video is what happens when some hipster want to be contrarian to show how much smarter they are than everyone.

All well and good, but they are other reasons which also make them viable. I have a Itechworld JS80 3,000 Amp jumper pack. It will start anything. It also hold it's charge for months, can supply power to mobile phones or laptops, air compressors ect.... and has an in-built torch, and will run my 12 volt portable fridge for about 5 hours. But yes, your right. I may not have used it yet to start my own vehicle, but I have started a number of my friends vehicles, and total stranger vehicles, but is nice to know I have it if I need it.

Great product which does what is says it will do. Probably shouldn't jump start your car with the main battery disconnected like that as the inrush charge from the alternation once the car starts up is going straight into the jump starter which isnt designed to charge at the amperage.

NOCO is a quality brand, I’ve used their battery charger for years and cannot fault them. I was tempted to purchase this but decided my money was better spent on a battery box that can run a fridge etc AND be a jumper if need be.

Most lithium-ion jump starters can only be used above about 20°F, and are only good for three attempts before they need to cool down. Lead-acid jumper packs can be used repeatedly and are capable of cranking for much longer. They also have long cables with heavy-duty clamps. I wont buy a lithium anymore, they dont last as long, bad in cold and more complicated having to press buttons etc. The best one is a Clore ES5000 'Booster PAC have two and are from 2014 still like new in 2023 and can start 15 cars. Wreckers use them and they are cheaper than this tiny ones that you will toss out like a cell phone. No way they will last 10 years.

Couple notes. The GB40 and GB50 do not have a 12v out power supply, in case you want to power an accessory like a tire pump. The GB70 has this feature. Also, the cables of the GB40 and 50 aren't direct wired into the unit. In case you drop the cables into a running engine you may be able to replace just the cables/clamps, instead of the entire unit. The GB70 is direct wired, not a connector. And last, all the NOCO's no longer come in the nicer molded zippered soft case. They now come in a cheaper cloth pouch. So pro's and cons of their models. I wish the GB40 orGB50 came with 12v out and the older model soft case. That would be the perfect jump box.

My GB40 boost works great with the clamps. I've jumped my JKU many times with it after listening to the radio too long, having no trouble at all turning the 3.8L. However, I'm finding it difficult to find connection options/adapters. I've been searching for an adapter to SAE. I even went to the battery store where I bought it. They had many Noco adapters for different Noco boost models. Even an SAE to X-connector. But nothing other than the clamp connector for GB40. Oddly enough, it has even been difficult to find pictures online of that port on the boost or the connector that plugs into it. Looking at Noco cables at online retailers, it is almost like everyone is hiding those views purposefully. I've had my GB40 for a few years and it still works great. If they had more connection options, I would recommend it.

Mate, you have camping in the name of your channel. Even if you do get this device, you're looking at 12v power in the form of a power bank that can light up a campsite for a couple of days on one charge. I can probably provide a week of charging of phone/ipad and the like on top of jump your car in a pinch. I say that if you like tech, this is a fantastic item with tremendous build quality. Even if you store this unit at 80% like lithium cells should be stored, it will still start your vehicle and charge your iPad. I can run a compressor that I have on this and even a mains 12v power supply will not start it. Cheers and Merry Christmas!

It's not that great as a powerbank. It only has a 24 watthour battery. Even an ipad battery is bigger than that. My laptop's battery is twice that. A cheap 20ah powerbank holds 3 times more power.

The other problem with these is they are usually Lithium Polymer chemistry. Leaving Lipos fully charged degrades the cells. So the one time you may need it, it may fail anyway.

Bro, they are under $100. Replace it ever cpl years and it's a non issue. There is no reason not to have one especially for ppl like me who ride motorcycles or if you have a boat etc. You're thinking is way way too mainstream and flawed. In the last 3 years alone this device was literally a necessity for me 3 times and I have road side assistance and regular maintenance and both didn't come into play 3 times as I stated. You're literally outsmarting yourself. I advise not learning this lesson the hard way.

@@bildad1234 it's not even close to every year bro, and I don't live in Alaska so you do you, thanks for your smug tips. Supercapacitors are great, but I'd rather also have the set it and forget it of an electrolyte battery, the gb20 is also smaller and more probable for my applications. I can charge it once and really not have to worry about it for years. It's money in the bank, a bird in hand if you will. If you wanna be a dick and correct there are hybrids of the two technologies that are out in the wild

All them battery boosters are JUNK, all of them, no exception, that's why brands like Bosch, Makita, Ryobi, ... don't do them. They ALL face battery issues at some stage. I bought one few years ago, a quite well made and expensive with great reviews on Amazon. It did the job, so i was kinda happy up until it i noticed it loosed charge within a week. What's the point of having a backup battery booster that is empty? Not only that, after 2 years, the casing had a size increase, the internal battery was damaged. I got lucky it didn't explode / caught fire. It could have burn down the car / garage / house. I wanted to modify my costumer review on Amazon but the product disappeared, replaced by other similar Boosters. People give great review on NEW products , we base our purchase on that. But the truth is all bad reviews are the ones to trust, at least for battery boosters. The sad truth is there's no alternative to them Chinese junk boosters. PS even NOCO battery boosters (more expensive) seem to have similar issues.

Cheers mate!! Thanks for taking time and explaining , I have a different experience with them and had it about more than 2 years now. Jumped few cars and it seems working every single time. In your case it might be a bad batch. However there is a bitter truth to your story which I agree. Hence why even there is hundreds of other, more powerful brands out there for less money, I went with NOCO !! Definitely don’t wanna risk burning 🔥 the place or my pride and joy.

@@campingmates thanks gor the reply. I watched a video from a guy who dismantled a NOCO GB30. Some electronic components were broken and the internal battery puffed up. So despite being the most expensive brand out there, it has issues too. The only positive point being that brand has been around for quite a while unlike the "temporary brands". I don't know if you've noticed but brands like Tacklife, Aukey, Mpow, desapeared from Amazon due to fake reviews. Them brands connog be found elsewhere anymore.. In regards to the boosters, as mentioned "real brands" don't seem to propose them. Which is strange since they sell 18v power tools, meaning such devices may be more subject to failures. All I want is something safe I can leave in the car that doesn't lose its charge every month and that isn't a fire hazard! Too much to ask appropriately. 😒

Any battery can have an issue. including ones made by the tool companies you listed. However, when you buy cheap devices online made by fly-by-night Chinese companies, risk goes up exponentially.

@@plmn93 I've seen so many reviews on amazon with similar issues, the battery cells puff out after a year or so. Lithium doesn't seem suitable as for jumper / booster. There's a reason why well-known brands don't make them, don't you think? Trust me, I wish it worked and kept its charge, but after few months it was no longer the case.

@@SERGIO-cr6uy All the "well known" brands you listed make lithium ion batteries for other applications, and they all have issues, just as every cell phone manufacturer has. NOCO is a very well known brand as well, having been around for over a hundred years. Again, though they all can have issues, reputable brands have less risk. I've had a GBX 75 for over two years through -20F cold and 100F heat and it's still fine. I'm now looking for a smaller more portable one for my son.

I bought one last night. Went to use it this morning and it worked. The first time went to the store came out wouldn't start again so I went to use it again and it would not work and then sit there for 20 minutes. I tried everything I can think of. It would not work. I had to get a jump from somebody else. I am so disappointed. I paid $130 for this thing less than 24 hours ago. The full freaking charge and it would not want my Toyota Tacoma with a V6. We're not started. It wouldn't even get the battery up to 12 volts. I have a meter inside my car and told me I had 11.2 or something like that and so I wouldn't even take it to a 12 volts if they can't take it to 12 volts. How's it going to turn over the car? A 12 volt system and should take it to 13 or 14volts I am so disappointed !

@@campingmates Yes I got the gb40. The next one up ( don't know the model #) was $190 ! That's a little more then I wanted to spend..I don't think AutoZone will allow a return on a opened unit either. So it seems I'm stuck with this. I will keep it in my truck..Who knows maybe it will work next time...I also read a comment in here from a guy who takes his hunting where there is absolutely no signal. It seemed like a good idea even if as in my experience so far a 50/50 shot of working. That's better then nothing. Or maybe I'll send it to my daughter. She has a small car. If it will work on her car then its not a loss at all..!
