Jack Blades is one of the most gracious artists I’ve met. I was an 18yr old Sailor in uniform on a flight from St Louis to San Francisco back in 1984. The band had just finished Monsters Of Rock and their plane broke down so they had to go commercial. They held the plane for them and when they finally came on, Jack saw me and plopped right down next to me. Talked the whole flight, gave me cassettes and the entire band signed an 8x10 for me. Such great dudes and still sound incredible!

Original studio version is one of the best hard rock songs ever written. HOWEVER I do question that the perfect take that opens the song and plays throughout wasn't dubbed and doubled. It's exact every single time. As a guitar player of 45 years, I stand firm that isn't possible.

I was at the Seven Wishes tour at the Ohio State Fair. Is that the same year you are talking about?
@bendyparanormal4 жыл бұрын
Mark Hartzell - Yep! You know, I see them every year and I’ve seen them in different states, (I have lived in Ohio and Florida), and they have brought up that Ohio State Fair show a few times in other shows over the year. The governor at the time was at that show and they still talk about it on stage occasionally!
@bendyparanormal4 жыл бұрын
Mark Hartzell - I got a blue tour shirt at that show, (and one of the logo necklace that was a replica of the one Jack wore), and the shirt had “7 Wishes” on the back. Because of the font and the proximity of the “wishes”, people at both work and at school, (started my senior year less than a month later, so I was still frequently wearing that shirt), asked me what “Twishes” meant. I explained it, but to my friends who weren’t Night Ranger fans, that became my “Twishes” shirt. 🤨 Saw them at the Ohio State Fair again last year, (2019); and yeah, they brought up the 1985 Ohio State Fair visit. I went with two friends of mine and the three of us have seen Night Ranger about a half a dozen times together. Both of my friends have birthdays in August. That concert was August 18, 1985; which fell four days after one friend’s birthday and three days before the other’s. The three of us then saw Night Ranger in Marysville, OH for their “High Road” tour in 2015 on August 14th - on the actual birthday of one of them. So those guys always associate Night Ranger with their birthdays. I just associate Night Ranger with some of the best friends, best times, and best music of my life. By the way, they’ve redesigned the Night Ranger logo necklaces and are selling them at the shows again. Sometimes they don’t display them; but if you ask, they usually have some available. 😉

Seen a couple of "recent" NR shows, is that the way the drummers set up in general? Unique for sure lol.
@RUHDD4HVN2 жыл бұрын
Yep from their start in the early 80s....... NR set up that way because the drummer Kelly was a main singer to be featured and it gave the rest of the guys room to rock out. They really haven't changed much from the when they first came out. But they are very consistent to say the least. WYSIWYG and what you see is still great rock!

Love the band but just wondering why they set the drum kit on the side like that. Always noticed that with them
@guydertinger56764 жыл бұрын
Vernon Bowers because Kelly on drums sings lead vocals on many songs including Sister Christian, it’s done like that to give him more visual prominence , up front, like the other members
@richcolter11613 жыл бұрын
In the early 80's, they toured with Sammy Hagar. His stage setel did not allow much room for the warm up band and they decided to put the drum kit on the side. They liked the look and it made sense for them so they kept it as a signature Night Ranger look!

brad Gillis could never ever replace randy rhoads
@shaunh98314 жыл бұрын
David Hubbard agreed, Randy was one of a kind, but go watch the Speak of the Devil live video. Brad was an absolute beast who went in with 4 days rehearsal and just shredded. I also appreciated how he injected his own style into Randy’s compositions instead of just trying to ape his solos. Brad even admits being Randy’s replacement wasn’t his thing. Night Ranger got a record deal so he stayed with them (never actually left, played every show) and built a great career for himself. Kudos to him for helping Ozzy onto his feet again, nobody was going to be able to follow Randy long term.

Sorry for your short sightedness but you don't have a career like they did starting from the early 80s and still have gigs to play in the year 2021. It takes more than just one song to make a band like this. Go back and listen to their whole record base and see what songs you find that are truly good that you may have missed. "Sing Me Away" is a good start....... BTW They're not a metal band they are a "Rock" band. Big diff.......
