Ha. You never used diagnostic software. Hook it up, read the codes, break open the website your granted access to after paying the insane price of the software and it very thoroughly explains what to check. Very easy to work with actually. On the engine side, it gives a detailed diagram of the wiring harness. I've replaced and repaired the engine harness on several later model isx engines. Makes it easy to check sensors and the harness for breaks. The fact that the electric lift pump isn't turning on is a sign. I suspect the ecm isn't getting power. Easy way to check is to pull one of the 3 wire sensors, connect a voltmeter to to supply and return terminals of the sensor, key on the ignition. Should show source voltage.

Cummins' dual overhead cam (DOHC) design was in operation from 1998-2009, when the ISX utilized a cam-driven injection system. These versions of the engine featured a camshaft that was solely dedicated to actuating the fuel injectors. The other cam was tasked with operating the valves and Jake Brakes

All comments are correct dual overhead cams. It uses pull cables down by the seats to open the side doors. You can always lift the mattres to get into the storage area. Start by checking power and ground wires for the ecm in the battery box.

Those cummins have electric transfer pump to pressurize the fuel system. Sometimes, they fail. I'd cycle the key several times to make sure the fuel filters are full.

you can call volvo with the vin number and ask for a key code and have a key made from that code number , do that on most all them fyi if needed

One more thing you need to check used prices on trucks that are actually running and ready to go. The market is flooded with trucks so what do you think is a fair price at 9500 and today’s market is not JFI! It’s best to stay with semi trucks 2006 and back with series 60 Detroit engines

Well i don't hear the electric lift pump. Cummins uses an electric lift pump that's supposed to run for 1 minutes after the key is switched to the on position. Very helpful after changing fuel filters. For diagnostics cummins engines use INSITE. Very expensive but it's actually a heck of alot easy to work vith than paccar engine software. Those early ISX are a bit strange. Usually see them surge real bad. Anyway I suspect the ecm isn't getting power. Easy way to check is to pull one of the 3 wire sensors connect a voltmeter to to supply and return terminals of the sensor, key on the ignition. Should show source voltage. If the sensor doesn't get power with the key on, the ECM isnt getting power

Also I imagine scan tools will rarely be needed, but if it becomes a must, I have noticed harborfreight started carrying a scan tool for semi trucks. As to how well it works, I don't know. Once you got the codes, there's probably a few of us that have access to the diagnostic info from cummins. I know I got access.

The fairings are all 'JERRY' rigged because the previous owner didn't know they require maint. I had a 2005 780 and I kept it in perfect condition and that required rebuilding those fairings every so many years because road vibrations wear them out!
