That N14 525 Red Top Cummins is probably my favorite engine. It's a toss up between it and the 3406E 550 Cat. Their both great engines.

Tim if you have low oil pressure, like 15 to 20 #'s at idle, replace the piston oil cooler/sprayers that spray oil on the piston skirt to cool/lube them! That are on the side of the block, under the turbo, round, with a bolt holding them in, easy to change! They get brittle, and break off, causing the oil pressure to drop! Easy fix!
@generalmcgarity75513 жыл бұрын
Down to 10-12 at a hot idle is normal for the n14. 15-20 is great. The piston cooling nozzles will cause the oil pressure to drop though

That’s a beautiful truck, one of my favorites. I drove one with a Cat C-15 and 18 speed and it was very nice. I just bought a heavy duty Iveco cabover with only 26,000 miles on it, from auction. I am thinking about making a KZbin channel dedicated to getting it running again and back on the road. It’s very unique and kind of a rare thing in the USA. My truck was brought back by the military and I think used in Iraq as a tanker tractor. I think it’s a 2004, and it has locker in the rear end. I believe that my truck would be DOT legal with a couple thousand dollars too. I do think that people would enjoy the story and the dream, but I have no experience with KZbin. I did buy several cameras with video capabilities and am trying to build my computer to edit videos. I have a HP Z book that needs memory and a hard drive. Anyway, I really enjoyed your video and know that whoever gets to drive your truck, is going to be happy.

That truck will run if it’s set up anything like mine. Those motors come alive in high rpm’s making their top speed well into the triple digits with 3:36 rears.
@the.porter.productions3 жыл бұрын
Porter greetings! 🇺🇸 I’m shocked that the truck has been sitting this long. I’m not a Cummins lover, but most are decent running engines and they’re not too expensive to rebuild. Hey, fix her up and get her ready for the road. If nothing else, take it on a trip yourself to see what she’s like and have her as a backup truck. I’ve never been in a W900. I do like them though. I’m more of a Peterbuilt guy or even better yet, let me at a cabover! 🥰 Hey, I’ll take the ProStar. Back to the KW…it seems to be a nice truck, even with the few issues it may have.

The best engine Cummins ever made was the signature 600
@mikenicholson25483 жыл бұрын
@@robertcrawford4555 I disagree I have overhauled both for years the N14 by far gets more miles and is the most economical. That's why Cummins quit building the engine they weren't sell parts 1 million mile engine all day long. The 600 never could make that without some sort of issue. And don't tell me I am full of shit have run both and the N14 ran cycles around the 600.

@@mikenicholson2548 the 600 has more power It is a way smoother motor, also one of the quietest motors ever made out of any engine period .I don’t care if the N14 is a little more economical I’m talking as a driver that has put 300,000 on a signature 600 and probably 200,000 on an N14.It’s not even a close call

I drove a 2007 W900L that was all done up,motor and looks. Had a C15 with twin turbos and some work done on it with a 18 speed in it. That thing would pull up hill loaded to the top like it was nothing. Loaded that thing cruised like a Cadillac ,only thing was empty the suspension was way to stiff it would hop all over at high speeds but all in all that truck drove like a dream. My boss always let guys he had working with us(drivers that only worked with us when we had to much work to keep up with) doing some of the nighttime jobs and I told him that was a bad idea but the one guy wanted to drive nothing but my truck if he worked for us at night until one night he forgot to put the body down dumping a load off up on the northeast extension on the PA turnpike and well he found out that it wouldn't fit under overpasses with the body still up. 🤯🤬 It was one thing to come in to work in the morning only to find your truck that you fueled before you parked it the night before with no fuel in it but to find your truck in pieces was something you never want to find. I know I was a company driver and had no out of pocket expenses or the truck wasn't mine to call my own but it was assigned to me so I took alot of pride to drive her because it was one sweet looking and driving truck. But to wake up one morning, get your shower ,go down the road and get your coffee and having the sun shining down on you and then you drive off to the yard only to round the corner to turn into the yard and YAM !!! You see the truck sitting in the yard looking like that. That was heart breaking to say the least. You know when you drive nice equipment you kinda take pride in it and you wait it to look good as it can't if you get chances or have places where you can pull in and clean it up. When I first started to drive it was food grade tankers and my truck and trailer looked like rubber duck's truck from my childhood movie Convoy so I was so damn proud to drive that truck and trailer. It was a newer mack then the one in the movie. Mine was a 89 R-model mack and the trailer was a polished Stainless Steel trailer so that was one good looking set when I cleaned it and when your dealing with food grade product I would almost get in a spot everyday where I was allowed to wash my truck and trailer and keep my wheels and tanks polished up real nice. Wow, I'm sorry I just started to babble off there didn't I ? Lol
