I used outdoor bush loppers. I just cut right through (once or twice) depending on the size of the pinecone.

Pine cones usually close up again when they're painted...do you bake them again after painting them? Also, want to say thanks for this video....you did an awesome job!!!
@BeCraftyWithMegan3 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you like this video! I've never had them close again after painting. I bake the pinecone before I use them so maybe that's why. I bake them for 20 minutes on 200.

DrinkWineBeCrafty Hi there, I am still patiently waiting for the tutorial on crocheting around the wreath. I understand that you must be very busy with the holidays coming up so quickly, but if you have the pattern, I will settle for that. Thanks so much. Avid watcher......waiting.

I watched a couple other videos about painting pinecones to look like flowers.....I have not tried it yet myself so I don't know if your way or their way is better/easier but they just took some garden tools called "lopers" * the kind of thing you'd prune roses with..* and cut the pinecones in half without all the extra pulling out pieces, first. Letting you know if you want to attempt it in the future to find easier way.
@BeCraftyWithMegan5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the recommendation! I was working with the tools I had at the time. Even though I couldn't tell if it was a wrench or pliers 🤣 🤣.

Maybe use a handsaw song to cut right down the middle? Just a thought maybe I’ll try it
@BeCraftyWithMegan4 жыл бұрын
I tried a handsaw since making this video and it didn't work well for me. The pinecones fell apart too much. I found that pruning shears are the best. Here's the link to my video showing the shears. Thanks for watching! kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmapiIqrms6YbtU

You helped me understand where my stink bugs were coming from! They have been sitting in a bag for about a month in the house. Oops! What temperature? For 2 hours? I love your crochet piece. I may try to wrap a Styrofoam wreath with lace.

Does baking them make them more brittle and easier to break apart?
@BeCraftyWithMegan3 жыл бұрын
I bake them because I get them from outside and it kills and bugs in them.
@victoriakelly25914 жыл бұрын
alot easier if you use pruning shears,cut them right off,

I think the saw makes the cut too clean looking. I use garden clippers and they make a nice jagged center.
@ajspersonal87985 жыл бұрын
Do you think you could use a small handsaw to cut them instead, I was thinking it might make it easier?
@BeCraftyWithMegan5 жыл бұрын
Yes, that would be the way to go. I don't have a handsaw so I was just working with the tools I had.
@davidrobinson26174 жыл бұрын
Think I'll use my bandsaw to cut it in half.
@Pfrazier435 жыл бұрын
A hack saw or other small saw would be a good way to wey to do that. I.t is made of word ya know. I makes it easier.. The petals do break off fairly easy. Where I live there are six different cones, so look around. There are evergreen trees that are not Pine trees. so the comes are different.
@carriecleary9650 Жыл бұрын
Get some clippers! No using pliers to clean out the middle. And get a leather glove to save your hand. Pine cone slivers can get very infected 😮
@luc919410 ай бұрын
