Didn't catch me off guard only cause I have already been humbled by an old coworker on just how quickly a knife can be pulled on you. He was a former gang member and convicted felon that turned his life around, got a stable job and started a family yada yada you know the drill. I don't remember how the conversation led to the demonstration but in a flash, before I had any time to process the information before me much less react, there was a knife pressed against my stomach. I definitely think the training cops get on the matter is really just good advice anyone should follow. In the US the violence is way worse than in germany and the risk of being attacked as officer is way way higher. Also german cops are always at least 2, while in US they are often alone. Training in Germany takes about 3 years while some people in US can get cops after 6 months or less. Thats why it´s easier for german cops to deescalate, whilst american cops need self defense first. Totally understable giving the circumstances. But yea, still some US cops are over the top with that. But for sure not most.

@@stevensteve6617 yea properly because forklifts are usual not equipped with the same safety measures as a real lift. If the hydraulics fail a forklift can crash down which is not so nice. A scissor lift or a cherry picker will usually just shut down and stay in there current position. And why buy a more expensive forklift and the unit instead of a cheaper forklift and a small scissor lift for the same price. And except from falling or crashing down and i am fairly sure that the insurance would not like it that way and would not pay in the case of an accident. Which is properly very expensive for the employer.

Why in the world would you assume they didn’t call 911? You can bet they called 911 about the assault and robbery. That is all they could have possibly known at that point. No one could have possibly known, or even guessed he was headed to a police station, or anywhere else in particular, as he left the store. Are people supposed to be telepathic? I see accidents on YT and viewers seem to assume people who drive by a recent car wreck do nothing. Have they forgotten EVERYONE has a cell phone? They can get real help there faster than stopping, getting out, looking at the situation and then calling 911. You can bet local 911 has had an avalanche of calls about the same wreck. Having half a dozen people, or more, with zero knowledge of even first aid stopping just makes it hard for responders to get to the wreck. If they actually witnessed the wreck, they could stay far enough away for emergency vehicles to get to the accident to tell law enforcement what they saw when the worst part of the emergency was over. I watched one where a school bus was hit and turned over. The hit was enough to make the high center of gravity bus roll over but there was not any heavy damage. It was on a remote 2 lane country road with no shoulders. People stopped and made it nearly impossible to get to the bus. Only people who have the skills and experience to help, like an off duty nurse, doctor, EMT, or Eagle Scout, should stop. In case of IMMEDIATE danger, like a vehicle starting to catch fire, most people can help pull someone out or away from the vehicle. I am 78 and handicapped. I can call 911 and that is about all I am capable of doing no matter what the circumstances are. That sure doesn’t mean I wouldn’t WANT to do something useful.
