My barn find story is technically a field car story. I needed a truck for winter, being my blazer was trashed, on Craigslist a guy was selling a 1985 GMC K2500 Suburban, Sierra trim, 350 with a SM465 4-speed, rear barn doors, only 64,xxx miles, 40gal fuel tank also. Wanted $2,000 at first but after waiting and a little haggling I go it for $640, I live in Minnesota so some rust but not bad, everything was dented, was parked in 03, year after I was born, and on the side painted in big letter is “Whale III”, it’s an awesome truck, just started it up yesterday, also brought it to prom and it’s is surprisingly a chick magnet, all the girls that worked with me thought it was the coolest thing ever, which it is to me! I don’t drive it now due to college and needing to save money on gas, but I don’t think I can ever get rid of it. If you’ve read this far thanks! Respond with your story please!

Love this episode, I think one of my favourites. As an Aussie, it's interesting to hear about that XA Falcon coupe. I remember reading about it in the news as well. Also interesting to hear Joe and Nolan's thoughts on restomodded muscle cars - this reminds me of the movie "Love the Beast". It's a documentary made by Aussie actor Eric Bana, telling the story of his relationship with his first car, a '75 XB Falcon coupe (an updated version of the XA). At one point, he and some mates turned it into a rally car, to compete in the Targa Tasmania. The funny thing was when Bana was explaining this to one of the guest stars in the film - Jeremy Clarkson - about one the stupid rules of the comp - like no restrictions on power, but the rear suspension setup had to be factory spec. Of course, being an old Aussie muscle car from the 70s, it rocked a leaf spring live rear axle setup. Clarkson's response: "So a muscle car with 600hp and leaf springs. Are you mad?" It's been awhile since I watched it, but that's the overall story. On another point, I'd never heard of MacRobertson's chocolate until this story. A quick google search reveals that the brand was bought out by Cadbury in 1969, hence I recognized names like Old Gold and Cherry Ripe, but under the Cadbury name.

You should do a podcast on Turismo Carretera, which kind of is the equivalent of NASCAR in Argentina. What's cool about it is that they still use Ford Falcons, IKA Torinos and other classic Argentine cars from the 70s. The category was created in 1937 and is considered the oldest championship still active in motorsport. I'm not even from Argentina and don't know much about it, but I think it's a big, uknown, quirky and important piece of history we all should at least consider at some point.

My first car was a Delorean DMC12 that was basically a barn find. It had 4k miles after 20 years and had been abandoned at a friend's house by the owner when he fled the country. I was 15 and scoured every relative for the money needed to buy it. Ultimately I flipped it, but the experience was worth more than the money. "Finds" don't turn up every day...

I actually did find a real barn find that I'm slowly working to restore with my dad. I found a one owner, manual, 1968 Datsun 520 pickup truck that only has 2 dime sized rust spots and runs and drives with only 90,000 miles for $500. It was the guy's grandad's that he bought brand new and just used for hauling brush around his farm until he couldnt drive anymore then he parked it in his barn for 10 years until his grandson learned how to drive manual and gave it little drives on the farm to keep it running and the fluids moving.

That theoretical 1994 Buick Roadmaster with wood paneling has one of the best engines ever especially if you wanna beast up a C-10 or Cheyenne... It came stock with the LT1... 5.7 litre V8 with 260hsprs stock but can be easily tuned to deliver 300+ with many websites and videos dedicated to tuning that engine, I'm from Canada we have a lot of LT1 engine swapped vehicles here... probably because of the climate and weight of the old iron block most of the swaps a small trucks... but we do get the odd Camero, and I knew a guy that put an LT1 in a Chivette and put a whale tale spoiler on the back... He previously used that engine in a Syclone but got T-boned and wrecked the backend...

I dont know if it's a "barn find car" but I did see it in a barn. When I was a kid my dad, my uncle and I would go hunt deer on a large farm in northern Missouri. The old man who owned the farm had a large shop style barn for hay and equipment. He would let us sleep in the insulated room he built in the barn. In this barn, in between two monstrous John Deere tractors, was a Burgundy Metallic 1968 Dodge Superbee with 12 inch Mickey Thompson Sportsmans on the back. It had so much dust on it we could barely tell what color it was but could tell it had barely been driven. Other than years of dust it was near perfect. My dad tried to buy it but the old man wouldnt sell. It belonged to his son. His son died in Vietnam. This car had sat unmoved for 25+ years in this barn.

Man, this video drops and a day later a coworker comes in saying, "have I found the car for you." He proceeded to explain what immaculate condition the car was in, "original paint, no rust" the kicker, he only wanted $1500. Apparently while buying a vintage scooter motor the old lad showed him around the garage and he had to ask what was under the sheet. He explained that decades ago the man had bought this car for he and his son who was battling cancer to work on together. Unfortunately his son took a sudden turn passing away fairly young and it has pretty well sat in the garage since. All of the markings of the classic barn find only to find out the car in question was a 77' Lebaron Coupe. I wanted to match his excitement but damn, I just couldn't. Maybe because I'd never seen the commercial kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWKrgn98rZKUg68

I’ve been able to understand a parent or parents keeping their late child’s car, wether they had died in war as what happened in more than a few occasions with Vietnam soldiers that were KIA or from illness or whatever, but something like this, acquired in a divorce yet refuses to sell it and would rather let it sit....I don’t get it, I’m guessing that car was the husbands pride and joy and the bitter wife even if not bitter at first glance, gets off looking out the window and seeing the thing deteriorate
