I worked for Carroll during the Dodge days in the Whittier shop and got to help finish the final assembly of some of the cars. It was an incredible experience for a car guy in his mid 20's Chrysler pulled the plug right after his heart transplant which ended the ride.

The first v-4 car was French. In the 70s and 80s the ford Taurus built in Germany used one. The first production car with a v4 was the Landis lambda on 1922 and the company used v4s till 76. And several others like the AMC mighty-mite military truck.
@johnnymason24603 жыл бұрын
I think you meant the Ford Taunus which was a German car. It may have had a V4. Who knows. The Taurus (which was an American car) never had a V4 engine.

“Texas-Style” Chili, as a broad and general rule, either doesn’t or shouldn’t include beans. I did not invent the “rule”, but have heard it’s a topic of contention and lean towards the bean-less vote. Also I’d eaten at the original Chili’s in Dallas (Plano?) in the way way back and their best-selling burger was chili-topped. No beans of course,, cuz that’d be gross on a burger. And you gents are awesome. Thanks so much for so much killer content!

What I always respected about Shelby was his understanding of European racing and any innovations there. So he was the first US car designer to put the biggest engine in the lightest frame like in the AC Cobra but in the 1980s that he understood the whole "Hot Hatch" phenomenon of the 1980s lead by the VW Golf and produced a US version that was not successful, but it was the US market's loss, because in Europe it was a wave of young drivers driving and racing those for cheap, like in the US in the 1960s with cars like the Corvette.

I don't know how I missed this video?!! I have owned Shelby Lancer #127 since 1999. I have converted the car to 16v DOHC using the engine out of a Chrysler TC by Maserati. It's a hoot to drive on the vacant back roads of Wyoming! I also have 1987 Shelby CSX #667 and it is also now 16v DOHC using the "Turbo III" engine from a Dodge Spirit R/T.

I don't know if the Saabs made it to the US, but if not, the Mustang I prototype, the open roadster thing they first made, was the only V4 one I know mighta made it to the US.
