Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) videos to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers and zero turn mowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, zero turn mower, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.

That's a great idea, if you do it right after you unbox the mower...99% of these adapters are never taken off the engine for the life of the mower unfortunately.

As a small engine mechanic of 35 years, see this all the time.Recently had a stubborn adapter I eventually cut a v in it with cutting disk and split it with chisel.Yes tried heat and have all the pullers.Another tip be careful grass can ignite on underside of deck and check gas did not leak out before ignite torches as fumes can ignite.I used an old pair of flame retardent coveralls and wrap around carb and engine if working around torches or welding blanket will do the same.Always have fire extinguisher nearby also.Great tips Donny.

It's often helpful to hit the hex end of the puller screw thread when tight , a few sharp raps then see if you can get another half turn , rinse and repeat , useful if no heat source handy . Also oxy / propane is a cheaper alternative to oxy acetylene , good for heating and cutting steel , not good for silver solder or brazing .

Hi Donyboy, That looks like a Uniweld cutting attachment (I was a welding equipment repair tech in another life time...lol) A tip I picked up when I started out as a Heavy Equipment Repair Tech (fancy title for diesel mechanic I guess): A welder suggested putting a water soaked shop towel around the shaft before welding on or heating bearings etc. The water will evapotate from the towel but it will also keep the heat away from your seals. Just thought I would share with you whatwas shared with me. Cheers from NB

I just had a similar rusted out deck, Mapp gas worked for me getting the adapter off, but I broke all three bolts holding the engine to the deck, despite lots of penetrating oil and heating the bolt heads. 😥 Today I try welding nuts to the broken studs. 😎 I've been eyeing an oxy torch to buy, this video might have pushed me over the edge. Thanks for the video.

Excellent video, nice to see it's not just i who runs into that kind if trouble, 😆 ONLY thing was when I used the heat it caught the dry grass on fire 🔥 . Good to keep a bucket if water handy. Isn't it gut wrenching to see such a nice mower gone to pieces just because of lack of a little care. I had one in exactly the same condition last month. No need of it, my push mower is 20 yrs old and the deck is as good as new. Have a good wknd

I'm on my daughter's KZbin account. To help keep the puller from walking off the head of the bolt I just put a hose clamp on the end of the puller or the head of the bolt, which ever is bigger. Just make sure part of the hose clamp acts as a lip so the head of the bolt can't go past the hose clamp lip. Or so the puller can't walk past the hose clamp lip.

Donny, I’m in a bit of a pickle. I’m fixing a 2005 Craftsman 55cc Incredi-pull chainsaw 316350840 for a buddy. Before I would resort to the torch, I would have given the center bolt of the puller a few moderate hits with a hammer to try and pop it off. Or I would hit it with an impact, which usually pops them off. I don't like fire, dead grass, and the crank seal so close together.

It saves your bacon, and you could cook some bacon with it too. I like bacon.😄 Seriously, I'd like to see a video on how you would put a new adapter ON the crankshaft, especially if it's a tight fit and doesn't want to go on with a few light taps. I've put a few onto various mowers by replacing the keys and greasing up the end of shaft if the adapter was stubborn. Then I've had a couple that just didn't want to go on without a few good whacks, but then you run the risk of screwing up the end bearings and seals. Didn't have a torch, but luckily everything went together okay, but it would be interesting to see how YOU would do it. Anyway good vid and much appreciated. 👍

Go to a welding supply store such as Airgas and check into what is commonly called a “plumbers pack” if all you intend to do is occasionally heat something up. They are small light weight tanks in a carrier you can hand carry anywhere. Before the introduction of PEX tubing for water lines plumbers used them for sweating copper tubing together in a house. The two tanks are for oxygen and acetylene same as shown. Some supply houses are only refilling their own tanks now, so be careful where you buy them.
