Good video, I’m becoming a fan of the 4 cycle trimmers. I have a curb picked Craftsman that had a bad carb. OE Walbro was $45 or so, ordered one from Chins for $19.50, runs great.

I was watching your video.thank you for posting it.I have a troy bilt and was trying to replace the pull cord.I cannot get the clutch plate off.I could not hear clearly what size torque screw driver you are using.I don't have anything small enough to reach down into the clutch plate opening in order to get the screw loose.thank you for your comment.

Just came across this video. Not what I was looking for as I have the new TB6044XP trimmer and the pull start broke. Second one in as many months. If you get around to modifying the "very tiny" plastic parts that engaged when pulling the rope, please make a video and post it! My wife loves the balance and performance of that unit, but the pull start components are less than junk. By the way, it is awesome to see someone else with tools organized for quick identification and which makes it a snap to identify which ones are missing.....

Hey Donyboy, I got a trimmer just like this one, It's actually a Troy-Bilt TB425CS, and I'm can't pull the Starter Cord, it's pretty hard to. I actually have to apply some force to be able to pull the cord. I thought it would be the flywheel or clutch causing the Cord to be hard to pull. I cracked it open and both of those are fine. After that I thought I'd check the valves and they were fine also( Intake valve .003-.006, exhaust valve .013-.016 ) ....Cont ->

Great Video like always. I have the same troy build. Same problem, however, when I opened the oil cover I notice that the 1/2" steel crank shaft from the piston to the bearing twisted and broke. The piston goes up and down and the bearing still spins while trying trying to remove the clutch housing screw (T15). The motor had plenty of oil at 30 w. How could this break. How can this be fixed. Any Suggestions??

Great video!! I have this exact project going on right now. Question, when you put the new flywheel on the shaft, do you need to seat it by pounding it down, or just push it on by hand?

Great video, but FYI on the early Troy Bilt's AC2's (built 2000 or so) the clutch is an allen instead of torx. Hoping you will or someone will answer a question, I have a Troybilt TB475SS a neighbor gave me I just got running and the clutch doesn't seem to work and I see no reason why not, any suggestions? I already made sure the parts aren't frozen together.

...Cont.->... I found that when I removed the spark plug to be able to use my feeler gauge, the starter cord fealt fine, no resistance at all. When I inserted the spark plug back in, the cord was again very hard to pull. Do you have any idea what could be causing that?? It's killing me man.. ANY insight would help me out man. it's not about being able to use the trimmer anymore, it's about not getting my rear kicked by a trimmer haha..Thanks man, I appretiate your good videos.

Hi donyboy73 what does that spring do,does it stop vibration from the clutch, because i bought a second hand homelite trimmer with a clutch, and when i pulled it apart to check the drive shaft it never had that spring,i got it going and now there is vibration from the clutch when reving it,but not when idling, cheers.

Hi, I have a Troy Bilt cultivator and the tines don't turn. When I pull the handlebar back, it's supposed to make the tines turn. The spring on that cable looks 'shot' so I tried pulling the cable back and it doesn't budge. Do you have any ideas? Thanks. (It's only a couple of years old!)

I have exactly the same carburetor for my grass trimmer. It's a Walbro WYL, but my trimmer is a 2-stroke!! How come the carb can be used for both 4-stroke and 2-stroke engines?

Hi! Ive got an old 2 stroke Ryobi (similar to the one you make a vid on to replace the fuel filter/lines). When dismantling this trimmer, there wasnt a spring between the clutch cover bit and the shaft. Is this normal or did I somehow lose the spring?

Is the craftsman 34cc 4-cycle engine clutch removal the same as that one? Is it a T-15 screw that holds it on? I need to replace the pull cord.

Troy Bilt, Ryobi, Craftsman, Bolens, Cub Cadet and a lot more brands are all manufactured by MTD (Modern Tool and Die) so your Troy Bilt and this trimmer are most likely the same thing.
