Except since then, global poverty rates have greatly decreased, literacy rates increased, life expectancy increased greatly, child mortality has significantly decreased... these are just a few. The news only seems to report the negative side of things. Don't be fooled.

I've loved music of all genres going back to classical pieces. Some listenable music is still made but I have to dig further to find it. Have just discovered Alec Benjamin, Jpolnd, and Shawn Mendes thanks to the Netflix series, Bridgerton. The only music I've never gotten into is rap as it lacks softness to my ears although the writer is telling a harsh story. I also find that many of today's songs repeat the same three words, though not as a refrain.

Mike Miller and Harmony Street capture both the moment and the memories of rock n roll's early days. Thank you for presenting and preserving the musical soundtrack of my generation. @harmonystreet Mike, yo answer your question, I was born in Detroit, father was transferred to Illinois, Minnesota, back to Michigan for teenage years, college...back to Detroit to start my 47 year airline/travel industry career. My wife and I moved from Michigan to Houston, Texas in 1982 and still primary home in Houston. We started living in Michigan 5-8 months each year after retired in 2020 due to Covid-19. I still listen to your fine body of work on KZbin. Thank you for keeping flame of rock n roll music alive and well!

Where were we in 1962? My older brother had just bought a new 1962 Impala Super Sport 409 4-speed white with red interior. I got to drive that Chevy exactly three times by myself. It was a status thing, I guess, and a great head-turning auto-not to mention the car was fast. My girlfriend loved that auto much more than me. I was in junior high. We were raised in a small town in Texas everything revolved around Friday night football, girls, and driving around on Saturday, late afternoon, and Saturday night and the drive-in malt shop. And of course there were wonderful girls-real ladies. The fall was great as I remember the turning colors of nature. A Lot of dove and quail hunting with friends. There were also some Hamm's, Splitz, etc. and, of course, wonderful girls. At the theater we watched some rerun 1950's horror in a "three pack" presentation many Saturday afternoons. I remember: The Mole People; Monster on the Campus; and Invasion of the Saucer Men. Wonderful to be raised in the 1950s and into the 1960s. Then LBJ and Vietnam came along.

1crankyvet I agree. Most re-makes are done by artists who want to impose their own style into a song and ruin it (at least in my opinion). This group is fun to listen to. I'd like to know more about them.

If you are a purist I'm surprised you like the mixed male-female line up. Personally I find the timbre of the girls' voices off-putting. They do what they do very well but real doo-wop should be sung by men.

Hearing the music like this reminds me how lucky I was to have been a radio DJ back in the early 60's. I wasn't big time or anything, but I loved the music and managed to meet a few of the music stars in my travels. Thanks Mike for the chills and the start of a few tears.
