Patrick Simmons does a very credible vocal impression of McDonald on this song. When they played the Oregon State Fair on Sept 1, 2009, I heard their soundcheck on this song from outside the amphitheater and thought Michael McDonald was going to be a surprise guest. Once inside the concert I discovered it was the amazing Mr. Simmons.

he does a good job on the song.... and reminiscent of McDonald. Interesting your take hearing the sound check... If you were at this gig, Simmon's son, a cancer survivor, opened the show...and joined in on the Doobie's encore.... nice seeing father/son on stage.... Thanks for checking out the video.

As the crow flies, we live just a mile up the hill southeast of McMenamin's Edgefield so we were at this show. We've seen The Doobies many times since our first concert in early 1977 at Bowling Green State U. My only gripe is how much better they're aging compared to us fans. They sing and play better than most bands half their age.
