ALMOST LITERALLY Miyazaki in an interview: yeah, so, because this game is challenging, we put in a mechanic to give players a second chance after dying. I'm sure players will take advantage of this new feat- Max: L1.

It always amazes me the fact that Max takes so many wrong conclusions, uses so many non optimal strategies, and still manages to overcome challenges. Don't get me wrong, I'm not condemning him. Mistakes are bound to happen when you enjoy the process of learning on your own. I'm admiring his will to persevere against all odds and win his own way.
@CerotheDemon9 ай бұрын
That’s because Maxi, like most normal gamers; doesn’t care about “optimization”, optimization isn’t important unless you’re doing a challenge run. He just plays casually and learns as he goes.

That's because Max is a tunnel vision gamer. He's very quick to learn a mechanic when he discovers it, but he's not very good at identifying what is available to him. He just focuses on diving into the fight without a plan and hoping something sticks. Little details like thinking resurrection causes the rot rather then just dying completely is because he glosses over the details and doesn't pay fully attention to the things outside the action. I love Max he's got a great personality and patience for video games, that's why I watch him. But I wouldn't look to him as a teacher on how to play a FromSoft game. His FF7 remake playthrough was even like this, he played it as a hack & slash instead of focusing on enemy weaknesses going into a fight.

Yeah mikiri counter and jumps are the best options against him unless you know how to deflect reliably. His range makes dodging just bad and his thrust attacks makes blocking pointless.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Dragonrot doesn't happen because you resurrect, it happens because you die. So Max is actually making more Dragonrot because he's refusing to resurrect, not less.

I understand why Max is choosing not to resurrect. He doesn't know this yet, but there are certain side quests that will not activate if certain characters are inflicted with dragonrot. But damn is it annoying lol. Might as well pretend that the resurrection feature does not exist.

Resurrection doesn’t cause dragonrot, only true death does
@2052brad2 жыл бұрын
@@simonmatusek1371 no, but he thought it worked the other way around. I understand that, the description in-game is misleading - it states that resurrection causes Dragonrot. Not resurrecting at an idol. This makes it seem like reviving on the field will cause it instead
@minecraftgravityguy2 жыл бұрын
Actually i’m almost shure that’s a myth. Side quests aren’t really affected if you don’t “heal” the npcs. But there could be a side quest or another that does get affected. But the game never states it so, it actually doesn’t even mention and as far as i know from playing this game more than 20 times it really doesn’t make a difference except for dialogue. Probably to not punish the players too much.
@bruhder58542 жыл бұрын
The game just does a poor job at explaining what triggers dragon rot. Have seen it many times with many new players that assume it's resurrection that causes it because it's a new mechanic and one that's directly tied with kore's bloodline in lore but it doesn't work that way at all. It's just normal death where you're spawned back to a checkpoint that counts. You can even work around that by using the resurrection to just go back to the idol to reset the death and try again. Imo it's a neat mechanic lore wise but it's not good in these types of games.

I understand going through those learning curves with Juzou and Shinobi Hunter Enshin, but by the time he reaches Lady Butterfly, he has commented so many times that he's doing difficult optional content, and hasn't progressed the main path of the game at all. So he knows going into Lady Butterfly that he might be in way over his head. It's just ego past a certain point. I mean I know he has the skill to stubbornly grind it out. But it seems to hurt his overall experience with the game. Just swimming against the current super hard.
