Ohh they do two. Looking at my Revzilla purchase history (which is as long as a phone book 😳) I noticed I bought a considerable amount of shit when I first started. Really funny looking at some of these orders, very clear when I tried to buy some cheap garbage and came back 2 weeks later and bought the better version 😂.

I've been watching Doodle since the beginning of her channel! She is an amazing person, and I admire her because she's conquering all her fears and living out her adventures! Not many people are that dedicated regardless of their gender, age and size! What she's doing is truly admirable, and people like her give me motivation that I can also achieve my goals on 2 wheels and in life in general! Take care you all and always ride safe and take all necessary precautions! Have a great one, and goodbye!

Motorcyclists and guitarists share at least two things in common, culture wise. One is the welcoming and encouraging culture. We're just glad you're here and that there are more people to share our passion with. Both can also be a bit religious about the brands and models we love without being too harsh on others with differing opinions, as opposed to say the automotive world, e.g., Ford vs Chevy. (I am also very happy with the new Gibsons and have bought a new 50's LP Standard; great guitar.)

@zackcourts, thanks for asking about the Gauntlet outline. I knew it was a course of some sort, but I can't recall Doodle ever mentioning it in her videos, and I was hoping it would come up in this interview. I think that what makes Doodle's videos interesting and relatable is precisely the "taking the journey from the beginning" part, combined with the elasticity of her spirit. She gets down sometimes, but always bounces back. She shares her failures, as y'all do on Common Tread, but her failures and fears are much more like mine as a novice rider (1+ year of experience). The one time I dropped a liter bike while stopped at an intersection, my first instinct was to think "screw it" and walk away. I've seen her drop bikes dozens of times, and the fact that she keeps picking them up helps me to want to follow that example.

Grew up on fort bragg and my dad was a green barrette. Knew of a few army special operators. They do get offroad motorcycle training. This was in the late 2000s by well known honda rider and ambassador Ricky Johnson. They were at a local track when i was there practicing. Got to chase him around the track during their break. One of my favorite motocross memories.

The Gibson new CEO is a bit of a renaissance man. He was a very successful “special situations” banker with Deutsche Bank in New York (i.e. he invested in and restructuring difficult or unusual companies and opportunities with very big dollars)-and I think he might have headed the group-before he started his own investment fund, Melody Capital, which was also very successful and managed over $1 billion before he left for Gibson. Given his fund’s name (Melody), I am thinking that guitars and music were always an important part of his life before he started to turn his serious hobby into his vocation. So he was a very successful businessman before he joined Gibson in marketing/product, which evidently showed and landed him in the CEO role in a relatively short time. So he was already acting in similar high powered leadership jobs before starting his Gibson quick ride to the top.

My answers to some of the lightning questions feel passe, but I didn't see them in the comments yet. Person to ride with: Steve McQueen. Point to point, glance and nod at line up, hours trying to keep up with a legend over the high desert landscape. All time motorcycle I'd want to experience: Vincent Black Shadow. Doing the Ton and then some in the Interwar years, combined with its exquisite beauty, and the noise of those swooping pipes: seems like a truly amazing experience.

Doodle Questions: 1. Mars, because I'm boring (and it'd be a neat place). 2. Great Teacher Onizuka, OR Kino from Kino's Journey. Real world, maybe fun to ride with Noraly or Tiffani Burkett. I think riding with a character like Onizuka would be more... spontaneous and prone to "unexpected adventures" than a real world person. 3. Modern day KLR650 Diesel with a 10 gallon tank that manages to hit 80mpg minimum. Comes with a trim level that allows for an Airbox Snorkel and Exhaust Snorkel that are handlebar-level. Maybe the Trim Level with extra snorkels could be called "Hian Edition" for Hurricane Ian while sounding japanese-ish. Maybe even a higher trim level that has the snorkels but also a 5 gal auxiliary tank from factory, this trim level could be called "Outback" or something since well.. you'd have enough range to cross the outback if you go like 45mph in 6th gear 😂😂

It was 3am in the morning... uhhg.. awake.. my mind racing from an incident that happened at work the day before, I decided to open the tube up and saw a revzilla podcast... something about doodle.. I clicked on it, put my phone down in the hope the soothing voices of Spurge, Zach and guest would put me off to sleep... some time went by and I was transported to a house with a sandpit used for construction, I was laying back in a wicca Pappasan lounge, I opened my eyes and there were my favourite podcast presenters, a short Motul ad and I was introduced as a guest on the podcast.. little old me, with my little old Kwakka Saké channel.. Hey I ran with it and all of a sudden I was asked on my opinion on what would be my unicorn bike 😊I was filled with pride as I stated I already have that bike in my stable, his name is Hopper and he is a KLR650, the trustiest steed I have ever had the pleasure of riding. Things were going great when Spurges neighbour turned up and parked their car in the gutter, it was quite a steep hill, the driver stepped out and off went the car with 2 children in the back seat, running down the hill in reverse, I jumped to attention and ran after that car only to be told it was OK.. the kids are inside and the car always does that by the way, it will come back when it is ready, I assume it was their mother telling me of this new fandangle A.I. electric car... Long story short I enjoyed my time with you guys and you even let me stay at your place, in that Pappasan, outside in the sand pit.. ✌️😊 p.s. I gained an extra 100 subscribers thanks to your podcast.. thanks guys and of course Motul..😅

I'm still hoping to eventually have a bike with fuel injection. But I started riding in late '88 with an '81 Honda CB 250RS, then went through two CB 250 Twins ('78 and '77), a '72 Suzuki GT250 (250cc being the upper limit in Australia for anyone on a learner's permit)...then upgraded to a '76 GS 750...and I currently ride a '79 CB 750-F on the daily. And eventually, I intend to learn about things like a daily check over, but haven't yet. One day I hope to get a Honda CB1100 for all those handy mod-cons like injection and ABS and LED lights...but the budget won't stretch that far yet. And yes, I know they're underpowered and old-fashioned. But so am I. 😁

CEO... on guitars and motorcycles, there are loads of us into both. For every category of bikes or bikers, there is a category of guitars and guitarists. Fret boards alone vary in style as much as going from a hill climber to a HD. So the psyche of running the respective companies would be very similar.

Maybe you have, I haven't watched all your episodes, but I've never heard you guys do an episode talking about helmets. I've been riding for about a year. I ride a KTM 690 Enduro R, and a Triumph Scrambler 900, and I wear a Bell MX-9 Adventure MIPS helmet. I always wonder about how other helmets would sound like while I'm riding, and how they would feel. I feel the wind a lot on mine when I am going above 70 mph. I also use a Cardo now, and so I think about the noise coming into the helmet now. Maybe bring someone onto the podcast who does lots of different things on motorcycles and has used a large variety of helmets over the years. Helmets are too expensive to buy and use just for a while. This would be a very beneficial episode to your viewers if you did something like this.

A couple of comments on the CEO discussion: 1) History has shown that the leader of a company should be an expert in the business of the company he leads, if possible, passionate about it. "Car guys" have been the best leaders of car companies, for example, as their leadership leads to better, more interesting, even exciting products. 2) It is also best for a company's leader to be from the same country and culture, so a better leader of that company, although this is less an issue than 1, above.
