I'm not going to give the family a hard time, but I think a lot of people just don't realize how hard work it is raising a young puppy. It's like raising a child, but with 10 years all smushed into a year. There will be poo. There will be talking back. There will be nibbles in places you don't want nibbles. There will be babysitting and reorganizing your life around the puppy. There will be crazy zoomies and eventually play dates. They are not arm ornaments :). And they have an insane amount of energy! But it's so worth the effort.

To your point, which is why a lot of people struggle with large breed work dogs(Pyrenees, St. Bernards, Newfies). They are cute on youtube videos but a lot of work in reality. Also, you really need the physical space to accomodate them. Their not stuffed animals!

Yes she’s a good breeder , and that person was responsible but there are millions out there that are not , not including average families having litters upon litters , unfortunately, they will not all have the same outcome!, Feel it’s about being responsible!, people and breeders are making babies over and over again , and a lot end up, abused and abandoned , when we have so many Pets in Shelters begging for a chance for a life and a forever home , a lot get euthanized every min of every day , including kittens and puppies , because we have an over abundance in this world !, I feel we need to encourage people to get their PETS FIXED! It’s super cheap , cheaper than having tons of babies !, let’s help , not add to this severe atrocity . Save pets lives !, ♥️🙏🏾

I must admit 5/6 days after getting my new puppy I had severe doubts. Had I done the right thing? What if my old girl wouldn’t warm to him? Was I enough for him? Etc etc. I went one way then another for a couple of days but decided to keep him. He’s now 5 months old and it was definitely the right decision- he’s well behaved (most of the time) and brings such joy. I think it’s only natural that that anxiety kicks in- you’ve been building up to this moment and then he’s there with crying, peeing, pooping and nights of broken sleep! Glad they brought her back to you though

Yep. Honestly puppies have to be cute because they’re so much work.. I’ve had two Labrador puppies, and they are so different from one another. My first one had normal puppy biting ofcourse but man, my second one had absolutely no bite inhibition and it became really upsetting for me at times. My first one never barked either, my second one would stand there yelling at me constantly and then snapping and I genuinely wondered wether she was just gonna be agressive. Anyway, with training training training she’s turned into the absolute sweetest baby. But we’re all in agreement that if she’d gone to a family that didn’t have the time to be so constant with it she’d have been one of those labradors Given up to a shelter for being too crazy and too much for them. It’s amazing ti see how she’s turned out with me, and I am proud of that, but it really was very hard when she was little. Puppy stage is very cute at times, but I definitely prefer them when they’re past that stage and more trained.

Wow. I have a hard time understanding how a family brought her back. She’s still a very young puppy. People have to understand training takes time and every puppy is different and every command is different. With my dog, some commands he understood within a few minutes and others, it took sometimes days or even weeks before he totally understood. Tricks like shake and speak, took him nearly a month but he got it eventually. My boy is very intelligent. Stubborn at times but I just love him.

I know a lady that has two of these dogs like them...they are so badly behaved . Does she think they come fully trained or is she lazy. A man i see every morning has a HUGE dog and he's not a year old.. what a well trained dog he has...he's off the lead when walking....ignores other dogs when out and...he's fantastic...I saw him when they first got him and he did all the usual puppy things...six months later ...he doesn't even have to be told to sit near the curb.....the dog absolutely adores his owner...never seen a dog stare at his owner with such love whilst waiting for his command to cross the road....

I really hate when people get a dog without really thinking it through. A puppy is a lot of work and they should realize that Sadie’s behavior was perfectly normal for a puppy. But I am glad that they only kept her for a week so now she can hopefully go to a much better forever home. People need to know a dog is a commitment to their lifespan, which could be 15 years or more.

Clearly I don't know what the situation in the household was. However, a person who's never raised a puppy would probably not have any true idea of just how challenging it could be. To accept that they were in over their heads and return the puppy to the breeder was the best thing for the puppy.

Yeah totally! I got my pup pretty late. He was already 14 weeks and even it was an adjustment for him and my family. Its not just a 24 hour care but I was also telling my small daughters that the puppy doesnt know we are "his people" yet. He has spent the majority of his life so far with his mother and the breeder's family raising him and now he is in a new environment. Thats a shock for anyone, on top of not knowing how to communicate, and also not having the wisdom and understanding of an older dogs. You need to have a lot of patience for sure.

The separation anxiety was exhausting. My Doodle is 6 months now but weeks 8 -12 she would scream and cry, whenever she wasn't in her crate, and couldn't see me. I just reminded myself that she is a literal baby and alone = death. She would lose her mind even though I work from home and her playpen was not even a foot away from me. We just practiced lots of me stepping out and then back and then one day she didn't care that I left the room to go get something lol.

A new puppy is “hard work”…after 30 years of dogs, we had forgotten how hard it is…especially as a senior citizen. But, we have made it to 4+ months old with our new Australian Labradoodle and she is quite well mannered…we hope to train her to be a therapy dog now that the hospitals etc are opening back up. A new puppy takes LOTS of patience and time. I agree with all the other comments….thank goodness they returned to you rather than reselling or worse.

I don't know how anyone could give up that cute little girl! For me, the first two weeks were tough with my labradoodle puppy, but I never thought of giving him up. Once we settled into a routine, it was so much easier. We eventually gave up crate training at 4 months because it wasn't working for us and he was fine around the house unsupervised as long as we blocked off non-puppy proofed areas. He's going to be 7 months soon and he is almost a perfect puppy. He hasn't had an accident in almost 3 months and the only thing he gets into is paper so we keep that far away from his reach.

I was the exact same way when I brought home my little boy. I had watched videos on puppy training, read books, researched online, spoken with breeders and trainers -- none of it can prepare you for the real thing. It was so overwhelming and challenging, I cried for several days, and I wanted to contact the breeders to return him. However, I was kind of 'forced' (not by them of course, but through other circumstances) to stick with it. Now, I am so glad I didn't ask them to find a new home for him. He's still only 8 months old, but even in that time he has changed in a lot of ways. Still a lot of puppy behaviour, but he is my little light and joy! It's just the most wonderful feeling every morning to let him out of his room bright and early, and he's so happy to see me, whole body wiggling and rolling over for tummy scratches. (Still. The next time I choose to adopt, I think I might get a senior dog. Haha!)

I had a similar experience with my puppy for the first few months. I have wanted a dog for such a long time (for over 20years, since I was a child, but my parents never let me get a dog). So during my childhood to young adulthood I have researched and researched, read books, watched videos about taking care of dogs/ puppies, and training them, volunteered at helping out with puppy classes a large rehoming organisation, etc. Even with all that knowledge, it did not really prepare me for what having an actual puppy was like, especially within the 1st month. I was very sleep deprived and went through something I found out called "puppy blues"? But I kept going with training, and taking care of her (I swear my puppy was on another level of crazy! lol, apparently she was the naughtiest out of her littermates, the breeder said...) and I have learnt I needed much more patience than I had, and I know I had a lot of patience to begin with, as most people has told me... And I'm so glad I stuck to it, because now, 2yrs and a half later, even though she still makes me mad at times, and not as affectionate a dog as I would like, but she makes me so proud at other times with all the time and effort I have put into training her, and I also wouldn't trade her for anything.

I just got an havanese puppy Jan 3 2022 9 weeks old. I love ❤️ her so much but I can say its not easy even though I’ve had many dogs and even bred a female golden. Its like having a baby and a huge time commitment to train them. To top it off the north east weather has been awful for me and the puppy. I am definitely conditioned to freezing cold and snow now! I can see how inexperienced owners could easily be overwhelmed. Lucky for me is my puppy took to the crate and playpen ever so easily and slept through the night from day one! I also have a wonderful cat who loves playing with the puppy so makes it a bit easier to burn off some excess puppy energy..

My 9 month old goldendoodle was absolutely entranced by your video whenever it showed the dogs! Doodles are so smart. I understand the family returning their puppy, and I'm sure in their instance it was the right thing to do. Many people get doodles because they look cute but don't look more into their training and grooming requirements. They are hyper, energetic, and headstrong dogs! But once you get past that puppy stage (thankfully i'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!) it is so worth it because you have a goofy, sweet, and extremely loyal best friend. ❤️

This is one of the many reasons I keep my puppies until they're 16 weeks old that way when they go to their new homes they are crate trained mostly housebroken started on lease training and basic obedience. You can walk outside with one of my puppies tell them go potty and go poop and they will do it. It is not abnormal for people to not understand the benefits behind my doing this the reasons that I do it and the value that it provides them but when I see things like this it reinforces why I do it. But then again I started as a trainer before I started as a breeder

for first time dog owners, they must be so excited to get a puppy and see how cute they are that they have no idea how much work it's going to be! I know I would be in that boat if I didn't see all these videos myself. a rewarding challenge I'm sure, but if you have full time jobs, especially if you have to go into the office, it must be very tough! keeping them that long is definitely a testament to the breeder. It's sad when I see pups given away at 4 weeks

Of course is gonna be overwhelming sometimes. They're just babies. Some ppl want to show off a pretty puppy but not all the work, effort and time it takes. I've had 2 puppies at 3wks due to mom not being not being able to take care of them due to health issues. I had to get up multiple times at night to feed, or cause they were crying or what not. One is now almost 5yo and the other 6mos and i can't imagine my life without my furbabies ❤

There is nothing wrong with this puppy. She is smart as a whip. I trained my little adopted dog to go « in her house ». She goes in her house during the day sometimes and I praise her. When company comes she gets very excited so I tell her to go in her house to « settle » and let her out once she is calmed. Took a bit of time, but now she does it on her own and knows she will get a treat because she is a « good dog ». I love dogs, wish I could afford one of your beautiful doggies. I would love to be near you and volunteer to help….

I've learnt and understood that l would never go to a breeder when there are thousands of dogs to be rescued out there.....but upon saying that l did make the unfortunate mistake of having a German shepherd puppy from what l understand to be a backyard breeder then couriered over to me nearly 11 years ago! He was 7/8 weeks old when l got him. I desperately wanted him to stay with his mother longer but all his siblings had been sold and gone to their new homes. He was bloody hard work for the next couple of years and training never stops but he was the best £250 l ever spent! Today l have a well rounded, obedient, loyal and most protective lovely natured best friend l could ever want. I get told 'that's not a dog, that's a bear' but kids seem to think that he's a horse lol....love my boy to bits ❤

What an absolutely adorable puppy just being a PUPPY. Dogs are sensitive animals and will inherit the traits of their owners. Your calm demeanor is already half the battle won. I cannot see any behavior which is so awful enough that she should be brought back to you. That said she deserves an home where she will be loved and not given up on after only ONE WEEK.
