There’s not many aircraft modellers who can really bring you to the bench with their projects. Doog is one of the few.

Taking me longer than you but the last model I made was 40 yrs ago. Same then as now, had a life changing accident playing rugby. So enjoying it exploring skills and how crap I am now. Bought 3 different to practice on and see if I can use an air gun type thingie for the first time. 😱😱😱

Not that I can model to the same standard as you but FYI the trapezoid panels were known as shingle panels made of titanium and the curved ones below were known as jet blast panels. At one tome in the 1980s I worked on F4 J /K uk version with the Spey engines the first job I ever had was stripping and cleaning arrestor hooks! and anything to do with the back end of the aircraft, THE FILTHY END as it was basically burnt paraffin all over it. Especially on the curved jet blast panels and the hook. Hope that’s of some assistance to you, btw the model looks superb

Tamiya finally releasing the P38-j gives me hopes they will do other versions of the F-4, particularly the long nose models
@DoogsModels2 жыл бұрын
I think an EJ (and early E) might be in the cards, but I wouldn't hold out for a late E, F, G, or the recce versions. Sad, as those are all more interesting to me than the shorties.
@ChrisK-LTC2 жыл бұрын
@@DoogsModels I suppose that leaves us with the Zoukei Mura F-4E or the old Hasegawa kit as the most viable options.
@DoogsModels2 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisK-LTC yep. Fortunately the ZM kit is pretty good. I'll be buying like a case of F-4Gs when they release later this year.

From the first video on this project, I've been looking forward to the painting of the fairings around the jet exhaust. Also, gotta feel sorry for an F-4 arresting hook. It's not the lifestyle choice I'd go for 😥

Can you recommend an acrylic paint that I can use over the Tamiya acrylic paint that replicates Jet Exhaust color please?

awesome job any chance of where I can get the paint from? I have looked on the website get 10 bottles of paint is going to cost $140 cost me $80 in shipping to the UK. do you know where I can get it cheaper?

Are the custom paints superior to alclad for durability? As you said fine line between black and metallic. I was going to invest in more alclad for a razor crest build but the custom paints look great. Thanks Matt, F-4 looking awesome
@DoogsModels2 жыл бұрын
They're far more durable than the high shine Alclads

For a P47 natural metal finish (war used) what metallic paint do you recommend from their line up (Kustom Service). Thank you.
@DoogsModels2 жыл бұрын
Duraluminum, Natural Aluminum and Natural Steel. Maybe some Magnesium and Titanium to vary up the odd panel or two.
