When I first heard it, it made me think "Oh, so the slayer was probably in pain while he was in the sarcophagus. In a way, the demons didn't just contain the threat, they got a cherry on top." But then later I realized that no, the slayer wasn't in actual pain. The simple act of being *restrained* was his suffering. The way the demons view it, the slayer kills demons like people breathe; to him, it's a *necessity* - his default state of being - so simply keeping the slayer restrained and unable to commit demon genocide is the equivalent of choking or drowning a regular person.

Nothing in gaming will ever be more badass than the realisation that this long and drawn out myth wrote by the demons of a demon slaying warrior so powerful that he brought hell to it's knees is that you, the player character, are the nebulous monster that they're shit scared of. Makes those later levels in hell where Demons get utterly assblasted by your fully upgraded arsenal so much more satisfying when between combat encounters there's these little lore tidbits stating how much they're utterly fucking terrified of you.

Btw, that champion was taller than a skyscraper😆 Humans then much much later find him buried in mars(In the Milky Way galaxy). Where Hell tried to hide him from being discovered by anyone or anything. The only problem is that I guess the demons didnt expect humanity to be as advanced as we had become (space travel). Demons/Hell itself are like Doom guy. Meaning they also come from a different Dimension and are extremely warlike and go from Dimension to Dimension killing and assimilating everyone and everything they think will make them stronger. That is the official lore of Doom fyi. Not my made up interpretation.

Videos games are limited to what they can do especially with characters like Doom Slayer if Doom Slayer was one-shotting all of his opponents then the game wouldn't be fun they have to make their games interesting otherwise people won't play them. this would apply video game characters like Kratos from God of War and Asura from Asura's Wrath.

Fun fact... All of the imagery of hell and demons in Doom and Doom Eternal is based on Dante’s Inferno, the first part of The Divine Comedy. If you want to learn more about it then feel free to read on. The Divine Comedy written by Dante Alighieri in the year 1320, is where most of the iconic imagery and depictions of Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven originated from. Not only within popular culture, but also within the church as well. The Divine Comedy is separated into three parts, Inferno (commonly known as Dante’s Inferno), Purgatorio (Italian for Purgatory), and Paradiso (Italian for Paradise or Heaven). And to summarize the content of the entire trilogy, you are reading the first person account of a man named Dante as he journeys body and soul through limbo, hell, purgatory, and finally heaven. The story begins with Dante's Inferno, where we are given a very brief description of our main character, Dante. In this quasi-biblically inspired fictional story, Dante is a rather well known poet living in Rome Italy in the year 1300. At 35 years of age, Dante began losing interest in the poetry which he loved so dearly. Eventually becoming stuck altogether, almost feeling as though he was unable to even collect his thoughts anymore. After 35 years of growing up here, he had come to witness both the Catholic Church and political scene as a whole, grow increasingly corrupt. Wandering deeper still into the woods, Dante started to think about one of the things that weighed heavily on his mind, and that was the fact that today was a Catholic holy day known as "Holy Thursday" (the day that Jesus Christ held the last supper with his 12 apostles) and in just a few hours it would be "Good Friday" (the day that Jesus Christ was crucified). Hey I just thought of something I wondered why the seraphim in particular gave the slayer his power and speed in a nut shell their job is to sing praises to God, they are basically angelic cheer leaders or a band for a talk show host But then it hit me Their job is music and they give the slayer his speed and power They are the heavy metal music in the background

To my understanding the way stuff works in the games and the way it works in the lore is not that much different. The chainsaw works in lore if not the exact same very similarly to the way it works in game. How the glory kill works in lore I have no idea but that is definitely one interpretation of the line whether or not it's the correct one I'm just going to throw my hands up in the air and say IDFK

It's added in a different entry that the praetor suit contains argent receptors to help channel the energy around him into his suit to convert them into health, armor and ammo. So you could argue that his helmet has an AR system that shows energy signatures around him with popups and prompts. Hence the health pickups and weapon pickups.
