some algae is normal in outdoor ponds. as long as the water is clear don't worry about it. it is actually helpful for the fish keeping the water in check and gives them something to nibble on for a snack as well. cleaning it out once or twice a year is just part of owning a pond. i've heard algae eaters and plecos don't do so well outdoors unless you live where it's hot all the time or have a heater in the pond or something like that.

Thanks, I agree with everything you said. There is a fair bit of algae left that they do enjoy. The algae eaters do struggle in the cold, and they lie on the pump motor for warmth 😚

Never in all the videos I watch on KZbin does anyone ever; ever understand about old water. Cycling aquariums, balanced tanks, get your water box there and leave it alone. But never about the use of old water! I never, ever use water in any of my aquariums if it has not set for 6 weeks mostly longer. I don't often do large water changes, mostly top them off. Most of my aquariums are dirted, but not all. Two are bare bottom and I still won't put fresh tap water and use chemicals in my tanks. Try old water guy, plastic milk jugs are pretty cheap.

Agree, only replace evaporated water now, and all seem fine with clear water.

So true. I never do water change and have 5 aquarium. 1 a 400 litre I did use tap water with water conditioner. Every week with 2 eheim filters it gets green. Other aquarium all are old well waters. Crystal clear with minimum filter.
