I am really glad that the horizons of this series are widening considerably! Going beyond TF2 and discussing bad weapons from other games is, in my opinion, a step in the right direction for the series. BTW, the next one may be UAC Pistol from Doom 2016?

Its such a confusing weapon because of how OP they made melee in the game. It would have its uses if the melee wasnt so good, but its completely negated.

@@DaisiesTC yeah, melee is only a spacing tool anyway. Though it is worth mentioning when running through the game only with the pistol, the increased melee damage helps considerably.

Blasphemy!!! No but really, really good video. Great work to you and bloodshot. One note about Fullauto is that the reason it came out a bit underwhelming initially is that since Doom Eternal is supposed to encourage weapon variety, they were worried about fullauto actually being too strong in the early game and ending up with a lot of new players just leaning on it instead of getting the message that variety is important. So they ended up over correcting.

I definitely think Full Auto suffered from some sort of creative decisions/changes mid development, the biggest being ammo economy. While I don't think it'd outperform SSG or stickies ever, with a higher ammo account the weapon would be a lot more forgiving. What I wouldn't give to see the behind-the-scenes about the weapon design process for DE.

I think the Full Auto shotty should've been a DPS based alternative to Super Shotgun which does more damage overtime instead of a finisher, it's more fitting for a minigun shotgun to shred a big demon all on its own.

@@simbatryhard actually that's not true. Against every demon, the time to kill for SSG with speed loader is faster than the time to kill with Full Auto. Full Auto does 320 max per shot, compared to SSGs 1600. And thats assuming you hit Full Autos point blank range, which is surprisingly close. Usually you'll be doing 280 per shot. So for 2 shells you can either do 560, or 1600. Even if you fire 6 shells, with Full Auto that's 1680, barely more than SSGs 2 shells. And since most demon health is so low, 2 SSG shots is usually enough to kill, much faster than the 12+ FA shots.

My -- somewhat derpy -- rework of the full auto: The ammo refund should be built in/be a base upgrade. 1/2 ammo consumption should be a mastery. You have to fire twice so you don't have half a shell but the fire rate is doubled so it's not a hinderance.

I've often suggested a balance rework would be to increase shotgun ammo capacity by 50%, make stickies cost 2 ammo and SSG cost 3 (or 4? But that seems too high). This way FA is more ammo efficient compared to the other two without changing much else about the weapon balance. I don't think this the best way to rebalance it, but it would definitely be interesting to see in practice.

I always thought it was just me when I first started playing this game. I tuned out a lot of the talk surrounding this game because back then people still thought the Marauder was broken. But no, like, the Full Auto Mod really was just a bad Mod. It used up a ton of Ammo, the same Ammo you could be using on Sticky Bombs or Super Shotgun blasts, and despite being a "spray and pray" weapon premise it requires a lot more thought and consideration than the other weapon only made worse by the fact that it demands you get up close and personal with enemies without giving you that guaranteed stun from a Super Shotgun blast. Oh, and let's not forget: During the time of TAG 2's release, Hugo and team thought that the best way to get people to use this mod was to FORCE them to with Stone Imps. Unlike prior jumps in difficulty where tightly wound combat encounters were tightened even more and it felt ORGANIC, the addition of these gimmick enemies felt exactly like that: Annoying gimmicks that robbed you of your agency. I never bought into the criticism when people complained about Marauders. I never bought into the criticism of TAG 1's Blood Swamps or the Possessed Baron because the Microwave Beam already wasn't useless and could turn low Health enemies into immobilized nukes. But I could see their creativity heading in a sour direction with the Blood Makyrs and sure enough by TAG 2 they'd added in two lazy reskins of older Enemies; Stone Imps and Cursed Prowlers. Common theme with both enemies: They test your patience in ways that range from disgruntling to frustrating. If I had to recommend some changes, it'd be these: 1. Forget the stupid "Hold Right Trigger to ready the barrel". You bothered to equip the Full Auto Mod which consumes time. If that thing is equipped, make that fucker fire at Full Auto PASSIVELY. 2. After firing for some time, the Barrel begins overheating like the Chaingun but instead of stopping, the spread widens and Enemies hit are lit on fire to drop Armor. This way, you are rewarded to prolonged use of the weapon. 3. Up the Ammo gained from its Mastery by a TINY bit, even if the ratios go from x3/8/11 to x4/9/12.

I think half the problem comes from the fact that they nerfed the ammo capacity, it somewhat forces you to switch up your weapons to not run out quickly but also murders any intention of going spray and pray, and shotguns already had a lower ammo count so you can guess what that does to the mod.

Even as someone who has really liked Blood Makyrs, Stone Imps, and even Cursed Prowlers from the start, I definitely agree that it'd be much better if for the next game in Eternal's style they were to try and do away with or slightly redesign those mostly polarizing enemy types. I genuinely love that Stone Imps make me lock them down with a falter so I'm not clumsily trying to burst them down with FA while they're spinning around, I love that Blood Makyrs are a constant threat I need to watch out for with one finger ready to pull out the Heavy Cannon once I hear or see them begin a heavy attack, and I even love that Cursed Prowlers are another threat you have to hunt down and take out asap lest you get locked in their game that forces you into a really weird style of play. But not everyone feels that same way, and that's fine by me. I'd love to see them come back, albeit slightly redesigned so they're not as polarizing to a general audience. Maybe Stone Imps could have a general weakness to automatic weapons rather than that one specific mod, maybe Blood Makyrs could function more like Armored Barons and their shields can be destroyed with brute force whenever you dont have time to wait for them to become vulnerable, Cursed Prowlers could inflict a slow on hit instead of completely stripping you of dashes, stuff like that. Also I definitely agree with your idea to make Full Auto grant its effects passively, I love using Full Auto, but it's admittedly silly to me that you have to do an arbitrary feeling zoom in animation before you can start unloading.

Yeah, full disclosure, I was NEVER opposed to the IDEA of full auto on the shotty. On paper it is actually a super cool idea. However, I could always FEEL that there was something "off" about the way it was designed that made it feel less organic opposed to the other mods and actually somehow weaker. And a lot of it just boils down to the fact that Super Shotgun and Sticky Bombs are a far more quick, accessible, broadly applicable, and (ammo) economic option. This was my main point. That, and how ID chose to try and FORCE players to use these tools rather than make the auto shotty feel more organic and less costly kinda urked me.

I always use the combat shotgun with the stickybomb mod. The utility of the stickybomb far outweighs it. The combat shotgun is also my favorite weapon, because it does just enough damage on fodder to bring them into glory kill range, essentially making them mobile healthpacks.

i mean imo what can the sticky bomb do really that other weapons can do? precision bolt takes out weakpoints from a much better range, and all you need is a grenade for the cacodemon stagger, meaning you dont even need to weapon switch, i get that once fully upgraded the cooldown of the sticky bomb is better than the grenade, but imo i just feel like the sticky bombs utility can be done by other guns, besides, the full auto rips and tears

Oh man, I'm loving how the horizons of the channel are expanding beyond TF2, and into one of my favorite FPS games in recent memory! If I were to make a suggestion for future episodes, how about the Doom 3 Shotgun, the Doom 2016 Pistol, the Doom Eternal Unmaykr, or, if you're really feeling spicy, the Mjolnir from Quake's Scourge of Armagon mission pack. I have no idea why, but that weapon in particular feels extremely off and I find myself using the fucking _axe_ instead of Mjolnir when I run out of ammo for other weapons. No matter what, the future of BWA looks incredibly bright, and I can't wait to see what else you have in mind for this series.

It’s best to kill cacos with arbalest. You don’t have to aim direct for the mouth, and arbalest does just enough damage to put other cacos near it in gk state.

Honestly... it’s my go-to for marauders (ssg-grenade-ballista-full auto). Outside of that? I use it sometimes for the weak demons between combat zones - but it’s outclassed by the stickies unless you’ve got the mastery. I’d say it’s not bad, just outclassed by everything but the unmakyr

The problem with Borderlands is, depending on which game, how useful a given weapon is can very greatly depending on where you are in a breakthrough. THe only standout I can think of is something like BL1's Meat Grinder, which is just a worse version of a regular blue-quality Torgue support machine g un.

@@fallingloo9930 I suppose the biggest strike is that barring specific edge cases for BL, most guns have some utility unless you're playing UVHM or the Overpower levels. I know there are some real stinkers in Borderlands though, the ones that spring to mind are the Cursed guns from Captain Scarlet. The Stinkpot maybe? I never used that long enough to have an opinion on it.

@@RedShocktrooperRST Stinkpot is actually pretty fun. You should give it another shot. *You know, if it drops again.* It’s not one of the cursed guns either. It’s a corrosive jakobs cannon, so it has pretty good damage, just no critical hits. Although I will say I never liked UVHM. It sapped the fun out for me. If you do like UVHM though, don’t go near the stinkpot. UVHM is a lot less likely to forgive you having fun with the funny stinky grenade gun.

Or a video about how the Chainsaw has conflicting design ideas, about whether it wants you to use it all the time, or to save up fuel and use it on bigger demons? I don't really think that the chainsaw has conflicted desing. It never makes you chose one option or the other, but instead encourages you to pick the option you feel is best in the situation. This naturally leads into mastery over chainsaw usage and keeping ammo count at a healthy amount. It is often possible to use chainsaw on both fodder and heavies within the same encounter even. It can also be used to get out of bad situations thanks to it's invincibility, and speed boost (if blood fueled is equipped). So I think that the different ways of using the chainsaw compliment each other, rather than conflict.

In my eyes, the main problem with the "ammo returned on kill" thing is that it does nothing but encourage brainless "hold button until dead" application. Personally, I would've made the auto-shotgun have a uniquely high stagger against normally unflinching armoured foes at close range, and give it excellent armour-breaking capabilities. This'd give it the niche of acting like a diet single-target blood-punch and make it combo better with other weapons. Also, it'd be extreme satisfying to blast off a cyber-mancubi's armour with a full-auto shotgun salvo.

This limitation was made specifically to force players to be more flexible with their weapon choices and use the chainsaw more often so that the game's sensation of power would be earned rather than straight up given to you like in doom 2016

My idea for the full auto shotgun was to make it an alternative to the meme beam on a he plasma gun. This idea is the when in full auto, make it so concentrated fire on a target will actually start to PUSH them back, this would make it very handy against pressure units.

I'll fully admit that I never got on with Doom Eternal, but this was incredibly entertaining to watch! I'm not sure if you take requests (or even if you've played the game) but I'd be down to watch you do a video on Payday 2, specifically the Flamethrowers.

Bro, flamethrowers are meta though At least in crime spree they are, but even in normal OD difficulty it's useful, because it stuns, and deals a lot of afterburn damage, it's also quite efficient with ammo capacity I'd argue a better content would be bad perk/skill academy, because PD2 has just lots of similar weapons as in 40/80/160 damage rifles, and different snipers

@@yobrethren I'll be honest, right now I don't know the meta in Payday, and don't really know how the weapons function now, so I'm most likely way behind the times and not gonna argue with this, lol. I do remember how I used (disclaimer: this was 2 years ago) the flamethrowers on Overkill difficulty and how satisfying and fun it was, although ammo consuming. Perks, skills and throwables (maybe also melee, but 85% of them are just memes anyway) are also a good choice for content, maybe an even better one.

Honestly, Flamethrowers are an interesting topic. If you go running around like Pyro trying to melt the police force, you’ll end up dealing not that much damage. However, if you treat them like the Grimms with Dragon’s Breath, the true damage output in DoT comes into play. Plus, a method to melt shields is always a plus in my book.

You are not the only one. I've got a whole list of things I didn't like about Doom Eternal. I've talked to other people online who feel like us, don't feel alone. I can't tell if we're in the minority or if the community is split 50/50, but it seems like most people online prefer eternal.

The full-auto shotgun has always had way worse bark than its bite. You see what is essentially an AA-12, think it’s really good, use it, and realize the devs did it dirty.

At around 3 minutes he says (basically) that its a good way to take down enemies before you get stickies and the precision bolt, but you can buy sticky bombs before you buy the auto shotgun attachment. There is honestly no real reason to use this weapon mod because its just less effective than quick swapping in both terms of damage and ammo efficiency. The only time I think the full auto mod is ever useful is in a modded level like that one map in the battle mode slaughter tour modded level where it takes away your weapons one by one until you're left with just a shotgun and a chainsaw, and even then its still more effective to just use all 5 sticky bombs and wait for them to come back because you can still destroy weak points and get maykr drone head shots. A video made by the very same BloodShot9001 called "Comparing Full Auto to its Alternatives" shows you all you really need to know about the weapon mod (Just don't use it because its slower than literally anything else) Edit: Really all you need to know is that the full auto shotgun weapon mod doesn't do enough damage fast enough. It takes 23 shells from it to kill a Barron when the super shotgun takes 10 shells to kill a Barron, even though you're getting back 9 shells from killing the Barron (assuming you have the mastery unlocked) you're still gonna be down a couple extra shells. My proposal for a buff would be making it so that if a demon is under a status effect like fire or ice gets their damage from it multiplied so it actually is able to kill something and have its mastery be useful.

another bad weapon is unmaykr. Its spend BFG9000 ammo faster then him but kills less enemies. And full auto shotgun is fun when u activate cheats and start RATATATATATATATATATATATATATTAATTATATATATATATATATTATATATATATATATAT (chainsaw) RATATATTATATATATATATATTATATAt

I'm gonna say this: I thought the idea of FORCING players to swap to other players was dumb, but giving bonuses to players for swapping players to incentivize use would have helped. Despite that ammo change, I could still clear levels with just 2 weapons. I don't understand what the devs were thinking. I just kept playing Doom 2016, but I can't help but wonder if the credits were a good example of what was happening. Doom 2016 had different shots of Doomslayer ripping enemies apart and shooting them with credit names next to him, but Eternal had a odd slideshow like ending like it was something from a board meeting. Oh well, maybe someone can mod the dash into 2016, that would be nice.

I feel like the full auto shotgun isnt really that bad bcs of the ammo-back mechanic is very useful at negating the bad ammo economy enspecially against the stone imps (even tough theyre were made to make the full auto shotgun seem better) but i like it as a "funny playing weapon"

I still love this weapon mod. Even if sticky bombs are better, i always use full auto shotty (fully upgraded). Just like the chaingun, energy shield is better but i nonetheless use mobile turret way more

Am I the only one who actually enjoyed the Full Auto mod in Doom Eternal over the charged burst mod from Doom 2016? The full auto is exceptionally good against the Doom Hunter sled and that piece of shit Archville. That coupled with the blood punch is just... *chef kiss* The charged burst in 2016... I've seen less utility with it even when compared to the f*cking pistol. THE F*CKING PISTOL, LET THAT SINK IN!

Great video! Maybe next consider covering the Plasma Carbine from Halo Infinite, the Brute Spiker from Halo Reach, the Spartan Laser from several of the Halo games, or some other historically bad weapons from across the Halo series. Hell, practically the entirety of the magic/spells system of Skyrim is bad without mods installed, you could do a really big video covering the issues it has compared to Skyrim’s other means of combat. There’s definitely a lot you could talk about!

I honestly don't know what they were thinking adding a full auto mod when they made shells so limited. Even with the ammo mastery for it barely offsets this due to the mod's low damage output compares to sticky spam or other mods.

Well done. This video is not only brilliant in its information on and around the mod, but also greatly depicts kind of mentality for and against the mod. Can’t wait to see more of your content. The only problem I have is that amount of shells returned on kill with the salvo extender mastery is wrong. The shells returned actually scale from: 3 from fodder, 6 from heavy, and 9 from super heavy. It’s a nick pick I know but the video overall is still strongly put together and great. Also nice to know people still have interest in me, I haven’t gotten much love from daddy UndertheMayo lately. He must’ve moved onto that new “full auto shotgun” in shadow warrior 3. I guess it’s true what everyone says, “Mayo just doesn’t stick for long”.

Day 1 Full Auto guy here. A few Full Auto tips you missed: -Fodder are free kills when mastered, but even Carcasses and Prowlers (even Revenants? I forget) if your aim is good as they reward 6 shells on death. -Full Auto has great synergy with Micro Missiles in the early game. A round of missiles takes your average heavy enemy down to about half health, and closing in with Full Auto kills them quite quickly. I use this on Hell Knights and even Mancubi to great effect. -SSG also has AMAZING synergy with Full Auto. Similarly to the missiles, just point blank a heavy with the SSG and then while they're faltered just finish them off with Full Auto. This makes very quick work of Hell Knights, Dread Knights, Mancubi, Cacos, Revenants, and possibly even more I can't recall. Due to only using 2 shells with the SSG, this can not only be a free kill but GIVE you more shells than when you engaged. (I've yet to test it, but recently wondered how many SSG shots it takes to kill a Baron, because super heavies give 9 shells back on death. Barons might theoretically be a completely free kill if you deadswap them with SSG and kill with Full Auto.) -It's a bit hard to pull off, but the Marauder double grenade 1-cycle combo with Full Auto is how I was able to beat the Mars Core master level. That double Marauder arena is so cramped that it was hard to do the usual SSG+ballista dance at a distance. But the Full Auto combo let me take one of them out in one fell swoop. It was extremely satisfying.
