Gotta get ahead of everyone else: *sub 1 hour when* Jokes aside, while theoretically possible, in reality it isn't happening any time soon. Not only do we have to play near flawlessly, but the game also has to give us the best RNG it possibly can. There is a new skip that may become legal, which would save 15-35 seconds depending on the version that gets allowed, so until then, sub hour very likely isn't happening.

Completly insane. What are your specs and what graphic settings are those? If you dont mind sharing^^

Specs are in the PCPartPicker link in the description. Settings are all low, except textures on max (crosshair looks clearer and it doesn't have a performance impact if you aren't exceeding VRAM) and particles on max (let's you see the demon spawn particles further away). Played at native 1440p, no blur, 107 FOV.

Question for ya. What did you do in the setting to remove certain animations like abstaining the germane launcher or flame thrower for the first time? Great run btw!

For pickups that have animations (frag, flame belch, ice bomb, any "?" secret), you just need to swap weapons right before picking them up.

@@micahdude8235 There's a lot to learn, I recommend just watching runs like these and trying things out that you find interesting, like a specific skip or piece of tech. I'd also suggest joining the Modern Doom Speedrunning Discord (link can be found on the speedrun.com leaderboard). We have a bunch of resources, and plenty of people would love to answer any questions.

ARC skips are NMG legal, yes. The hook one is questionable, but the skip through the tentacles is an inbounds area so it's fine.

@@bowsrcs I may be out of the loop, however what is considered NMG? When you can't see the out of bounds parts, right? I'm talking about the first skip, because at 36:13 you are on top of the playable area. I may be wrong, but I still find it odd.

@@potato_dbd I never left what we defined as an inbounds area with that skip. The deathplane I touched to warp into the patio is the only one that's inbounds since it's lined up with the edge. If I were to go on the catwalk or use another deathplane, it would be out of bounds. To be fair, this skip really pushes the technicalities of our out of bounds definition, but we are discussing this definition at the moment so maybe it'll change, but also maybe it won't. Seeing textures not rendering isn't a strong indicator of what's out of bounds or not, because there's multiple places in the game where this can happen through normal gameplay. I'm talking just double jump in a spot and the world renders differently lol

However, I believe that there should be further conversation about this with other runners as well, regarding what should or shouldn't be allowed. I imagine there are skips like- or similar to this one on other maps as well and are just not being used because they're considered out-of-bounds.

That's why we're in the middle of discussing these rules, to not only hopefully make them more clear, but easier and quicker to rule on. There's a skip on Mars that may become legal, depending on how these discussions go (I find it very likely at this point). But there's also skips that may become illegal, they're technically legal now by our definition but they're skips that skip the entire level of Final Sin. I haven't done them in runs specifically because I don't think they should be allowed and they aren't fun lol We'll see how it goes, but yea we're working on it, don't worry.
