You know what I'd personally like to see? A proper port with optimized maps, running on a fork of the Resurrection source port.
@0neDoomedSpaceMarine6 ай бұрын
@@DeskoDev That's kinda what I meant, and it really makes me wonder. Are there enough compromises possible which could make it happen, but without affecting general quality too much?
@0neDoomedSpaceMarine6 ай бұрын
4th and 5th gen consoles only had so much memory to load stuff into, even if they had spacious disc media, so all those ports had to make their compromises somewhere or other, generally meaning much less texture variety and sometimes monster variety. For example, both versions of Doom on Playstation has the Spidermind, but Final Doom, while still having the assets on disc, leaves him completely unused because his sprites are gigantic and he kind of sucks as an enemy. Archie simply has too many frames, they'd have too little memory left for textures and other monsters. 32X Resurrection, however, shows you can stretch the Genesis and 32X a hell of a lot farther for Doom than they originally did, but can you stretch it yet further? Doom 64 made smart and extensive use of palette changes and color tinting for textures to create a lot of added visual variety for almost no use of memory or space, maybe that approach is possible on 32X?

You even added the triangles for Countdown to Death! I usually see people forget that singular instrument, but you did it! Props! You made my 2nd favorite Alice in Chains song (Doom 2's "Bye Bye American Pie," which is a cover of "Them Bones" by AIC) into what sounds like a funky Sonic boss theme at 2:05:31.

The sound of Opening To Hell is gnarly as... well, hell, but man, that footage was a little frustrating lol, don't be afraid of using the BFG to clear all the beasts off as they start to amass around you, that's the point. Anyway, I love all of this.

wow. this is pretty good! also, i'm very happy that you finished this soundtrack in furnace tracker. i didn't know that delek has a bad attitude about furnace supporting deflemask modules. you probably should make a video about it. (i mean, it's his own fault anyway for making the software paid. obviously someone else was going to make a tracker that's a lot better then defle. and furnace being open source is the icing on the cake.)
@spoonybard132 жыл бұрын
I’ve thought about making a video covering Delek’s little escapade, but truth be told, I’d rather not focus on negative stuff in the chiptune world. I’d rather just make a tutorial for Furnace tracker to replaced my old DefleMask tutorials. I could probably make them way better, too. I know some people were a little bit confused by my terminology in those videos, so I’ll be sure to do better this time.

Which track was your favorite and least favorite to work on?

Honestly it’s hard to pick because they all had a very similar process, because they’re all very heavy on repetition, just with changed instruments or added harmonies. Favorite is a toss up between Message for the Archvile, and The Dave D Taylor Blues. Least favorite was probably… In the Dark, just cause I think that’s a very boring song in general, and it’s absurdly long.

The 32x port of Doom was rushed out, both making the music infamously terrible and being the cause for it missing so much content, since they just downgraded the Jaguar version.
