As someone who hunted around for a card to do the Doom MIDI (MUS) Soundtrack justice, I do appreciate this video. For what it is worth, I ended up with a Soundblaster 16 for the sound and Reveal WAVExtreme 32 for the MIDI which was decent enough. It took some fun and games with the IRQ settings to get that to work as you can imagine...

I happened to own a gravis ultrasound card. It was a really good card, tho how good it sounded depended on the instrument packet you had.

I had a disney sound source that plugged into the joystick port. I remember being told that it was basically an external gravis sound system. I played through the Commander Keens, the side scrolling Duke nukems, rockford, some of the kings quests. Then we got a sound blaster, with the cd drive, sound card and speakers so we could play the newer kings quest games, indiana jones and the fate of atlantis, 7th guest, 11th hour, doom, Wolfenstein, etc. I remember thinking going from the Disney to The sound blaster, The sound blaster sounded like real instruments and it blew my mind
