Going to sound a little weird, but I use a HM2 for a doom sound. It works. It's a very crunchy doom, kind of like Black Tomb. I don't know what makes it work, because it's that death metal pedal, but I love it. Could you maybe branch out and check out a HM2 and see if you can make it work for your sound? I use it the same way that everyone else does, everything to 10.

I'm loving the versatility in the different types of gain here, your pedals stack really well! On my board I'm running a Digitech Bass Synth for its crazy octaver/filter sounds into my Jelly Fuzz which is a heavily gated silicon fuzz reminiscent of a Big Muff but with much more midrange on tap, which I then send into my Dunwich DA120 which is my primary source of gain. I run that signal off my board and into my Ocean Machine which is essentially two delays, a reverb and a Looper in one pedal. You can swap the order of the effects within the pedal and create all sorts of loops and continue to send them into each other. The reason I keep the Ocean Machine off the floor and on its own stand is so I can adjust its paramaters as I play, I have found it's more of an instrument than effect pedal. Because it has stereo ins and outs, i can run my pedalboard and my Venom keyboard into both of my amps and switch at any time! For amps i run two of those high wattage Peavey heads from the 70's....Or at least I did before one of them broke! Get this, a fat rat crawled into the amp and died decades ago after chewing through one of the wires, and its nest was insulating the heat from the transformer. One day I looked inside the amp and discovered it, and I had it sent to a tech...and once it was cleaned and removed it stopped working. It's almost as if the poor little guy was grounding my amp. Sacrificial soul to keep my tone alive! Now my board sits packed up and I just play through my little Digitech multi effect unit with headphones :\

Man that model fits goes good with all of those pedals! My favorite was the drone master,micro pog & master fet. After watching another video you did on boards it got me to realize a better order of my board which was Acapulco gold-hypercoven-doomsaw-surya-doomcasterin my dirt chain but now your video got me to switch it to doomcaster-hypercoven-acapulco gold-surya. I have an active evp Jr. Volume pedal at the very front a custom audio electronic wah after the Surya into a electro faustus photo-theremin into a mxr talkbox all in the front of that little orange 15watt micro terror dark and that crappy 8in cab that can't handle the loss at all then in the effects loop im using a little more ge 100 for my 4everbs and equalizer and noise gate and or delay effects which is getting tossed for individual pedals soon .power supply is a Hiree Amazon unit not sure if itsa daisy chain if it is it sure doesn't look it . Oh yeah by the way the name is Clay Block from Dallas, Texas and I'm playing either a dean vendetta 7string with active eggs but my full time demon slayer is a 2012 dean Thourghbred with gus g active blackouts and 24 volt mod...it's so sick. Sonically the out shine a y emgs I've used. Really liking the boards steve is putting out I'd like to own one at some point, so what do you think of the pedals im running as far as the order . I removed the doom saw possibly for good and is that model fet in your opinion better than that uber expensive life pedal by earthquaker?

Hello from West Michigan. My favorite pedal combo on the board was (surprisingly) the clean sound from the Micro Pog, Dark Master and Model Fet. I’m from West Virginia. Favorite pedals I use are Behringer super fuzz, Blaxx Metal Distortion I think it’s made by MXR. I never hear anyone talk about that pedal, but it’s like a big muff on steroids with a boost switch. From there my chain goes to my graphic eq, to my afterneath reverb/delay, then my Looper. Seriously check out the Blaxx Metal Distortion pedal if you can get ahold of one. It’s a badass Distortion pedal. Btw I love what you’re doing making these moded versions of some classic pedal designs. Pushing boundaries and coming up with something that’s not been done before. I’d love to try a few, but I know it’s hard to keep up with demand as a boutique builder. Just hoping I can eventually get a FU-2 to try out at some point.

Greetings from Sao Paulo, Brazil. I have a Big Muff Pumpkin Pi and a Catalinbread Sabbra Cadabra pedals for Doom music. I also have a Boss Metal Zone MT-2, Turbo Distortion DS-2, Super Overdrive SD-1 and a Marshall Jackhammer JH-1 when I want to play heavier Doom music (more modern sound) or color a little bit my tone. The Super Overdrive I use it more for guitar solos - I set its overdrive level quite low, about 9 o'clock, raise up a far bit of the volume louder than my clean/off effect and dirty volume levels and set the tone to darken a little bit, about 12 o'clock or less, thus pronouncing more the middle frequencies, perfect for solos. The SD-1 has a strong output, enhancing any tone and volumes to highlight the guitar. And I put it as the last distortion pedal in the chain. I must say the Jackhammer does a pretty decent job for Doom music, even with Sabbath tones (although I know early 70's Sabbath relies more on fuzz type effect than distortion effect itself). It is a powerful and one of the most underrated pedals out there.

What I'd like to learn more about is modulation pedals (espacially vibratos, univibes and phasers) and how to put and stack them. And I really would like to learn more about amp combinations, because I started using a splitter by Lehle to run two different amps at the same time. Now I am able to actually use my old Fender with built in tremolo for wet/dry in a band context, yesssss. Perhaps, one of these themes fit into your video plans. really liked the doom screamer. Been looking for a pedal for my clean channel that allows me to get a dark, light to medium break up sound for certain passages of songs and that might be it. Currently using a Bogner Shiva 20th anniversary to play sludge and post metal type stuff and it gets absolutely massive. It's not a traditional doom amp, but it definitely dooms. It would be cool to hear videos on different amps and how you can get certain sounds for doom metal out of them. Like for example, the jcm 800 has one of my favorite tones for sludge (iron monkey sound) but you never hear any demos playing doom out of them. Would also be cool to see how you EQ these amps to get certain doom tones.

Hi Jason, thanx a lot, another very informative video. Started building pedals two years ago because i was looking for my favourite (stoner rock) sound and after buying 3 fuzz pedals i started realizing that this is going to be really really expensive. So i started building heaps of fuzz pedals. My favourite ones are a boss fz2 clone, a univox superfuzz clone and a eqd sunn life clone. From the last one i got the idea to push the front end of my non master volume amp (laney la30bl) into a light crunch. So a maxed out clean boost last in my pedal chain. That sounds glorious with various dirt pedals in front but is a little tricky with noisy pickups (unfortunately i like single coils and P90s). At the moment i try to sort out what i built (because u can't use twentysomething fuzz pedals on one board) and make a working pedal board out of it. So what you tell in this video is really informative for me because that's just about the sound i want 😁🤘 What do you think about clean boost last especially into a non master amp? Cheers from the austrian alps Andi

Still droning it out from Detroit here Jason. I really like how the FET really tightened up anything that went into it, not sure if it's got a really harsh compression on it or what, but damn did that add some definition with out thining out the tone... Hello from Yonkers NY! Great video, as always. I really appreciate your approach to videos. You have such a calm voice and manner it just ,Ames me smile every time I watch you. I love the sound of the new delay. My fav tones were anything with the Drone Master-that pedal sounds awesome! The only pedal that I didn’t like was the FET pedal. It was a bit too brittle and harsh to my ears. As far as new videos, how about one on pickups? I have tried many pickups in my years of playing and as I’ve mentioned before nothing comes close to the Gibson Tony Iommi humbucker. Currently using the Behringer SF-300 (SuperFuzz clone) into another clone, the NS-300 Noise Gate. That goes into a Orange MicroDark into a Barefaced 2x12 guitar cab-which you should all check out! Greetings from Brooklyn, NY! That Drone Master is lovely and I didn't realize Does It Doom is making those Tolex boards, absolutely getting one! Personally I've been combining the Fuzz & Burn by Minotaur Sonic Terrors with a number of other fuzz pedals and the results are thicker than an asphalt milkshake. Lastly, a question: how often do you find the need for shielding to mitigate noise coming from germanium transistor pedals? Even without a daisy chained power supply I can hear noise from mine pretty easily, even the occasional radio transmission. Thanks for all the goodness
@FuzzlordEffects4 жыл бұрын
Yeah he just started offering them recently! As far as noise some of those circuits are just more prone to that than others. Humbuckers may help!
@ShewolfOvDenver4 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I just recently got an Epiphone G 400 that's entirely humbucked and it can still get pretty noisy. Guess that's par for the course with germanium?

Everything is great. Thanks. But one question - why camera mostly on host? Because I can't see what he show exactly on pedalboard))

Gah, I keep trying to not buy a ModelFET and you're not helping. South Carolina here. I do think I need to put a MicroPOG back on my board. I switched to a SubNUp a while back to save on size but I don't think it sounds as good. My favorite pedal is probably a tie between my Caroline Guitar Co Shigeharu and my IdiotBox Effects Whores. Fuzz Freq. 2 totally different fuzzes but each adds it's own flair. Also, my board is kinda modeled after Christian from Whores' board. I'm running my dirt pedals through a 2 loop switcher (One Control white loop) and have one loop for medium gain or OD and the other for the super heavy stuff.

Great starter for 2020 ;) I really loved the Modell FeT, and the Doom Screamer is an interesting approach too. Also I was hoping for a delay/echo, so was happy to see the Dark Master. We play more like a psychedelic stoner kind of music with my band, so I have less gain on my board, my favorite is my own 8Ball pedal that is based on the Keeler Push OD. I also love my Phase 90 clone, one pedal that I would definitely not leave out of my board. I love your board, especially the way it is made quite uniform. Only the tuner and the Micro POG stick out quite a bit. Haven't you considered to change them? I would recommend the Korg Pitchblack as a tuner, I love mine, as for the POG... That is a harder nut to crack, but you could maybe rehouse it? That is if you want a more uniform look for your board ;) Anyways, üdvözlet Magyarországról and I'm waiting for the next one (could be maybe another episode for "what guitars to use for doom"...? Another interesting topic is speakers and cabinets. They influence tone so much, yet people seem to overlook this topic quite often.)

For a non-fuzz(perish the thought! LOL) stoner-doom tone, an old school DOD 250 into an Orange-something w/greenbacks is hard not to love.

Hey thanks to Fuzzlord for a guide of a pedalboard in this genre. its hard to find settings/tunings for gear in this genre of doom stoner. thanks for that. besides that especially this example of pedal settings is not my lovely sound but i get a lot of important informations out of it. my question is how can i compress my baritone guitar sound better ? in my band we have the issue that our sound is to wide and not compressed enough. but i dont know which compressor is good for us ? maybe someone can help. we have a Drop-A tuning on both guitars and the bass one octave lower. which pedals we need to get more compressed sound like DOPE SMOKER for example ? lovely regards to all doomers .[],,[]

Hi from new zealand, just wondering why you dont run the pog and dark master through the fx loop?
@FuzzlordEffects4 жыл бұрын
Amp set pretty clean and dirt pedals before it so I just wrong straight into front. Usually want tone effects in loop when using lots of amp gain as far as I know

Hi Fuzz lord! Could you please explain why did you put a distortion before Void Master ? What’s the level of Volume did you set? And final : are you using some noise gate ?
