@@musicplaylists59 ProCo RAT or Boss Hyperfuzz or some of their many variants (for example EQD Life Pedal, Unsound Circuitry Hyper Pozzum V2, Abominable Electronics Demon Lung, Behringer SF300 if you don't have a lot of money etc). If you want a Big Muff type of fuzz i'd rather go with EQD Hizumitas than the Fuzz War, or some version of the Green Russian Muff. Colorsound One Knob Fuzz is also great and has many variants as well such as DAM Meat Head, Frost Giant Electronics Massif etc. Personally i'd take a RAT since i'm a huge Sunn O))) fan.

Well i'm old (really) ... so having a different perspective: - i love seeing the younger guys and gals taking some old faithful sounds to a new level whilst still retaining the urge and power which fascinated me hearing old Sabbath and stuff ... - getting an axe an amp and a fuzz to make brutal sounds got me into making music in the early days - great to see FUZZ is coming back and revived Thanks a lot for putting up this fun test

I'm 70, grew up in the SFV, CA. I still play and listen to tons of music from various genres. With all due respect to your post, I don't think Fuzz pedals never left. Yeah I play guitar, bass etc, but using Fuzz on synths is unworldy. Meaning fuzz isn't just for string electrics. Thats why I say it never went away.

Honestly this video proves that Behringer didn't manufacture the Super Fuzz. @@LeviBulger The word you're looking for is Clone, not ripped off. Almost every pedal company clones other pedals. Hell, feckin Boss doesn't even MAKE the fuzz it's based on anymore lol
@LeviBulger
@LeviBulger 6 ай бұрын
@@EricFaries That's just patently false. There are tons of original circuits out there. Behringer doesn't make a single one that isn't a clone/ripoff. The Fz1 is technically an original circuit as it incorporated a buffer and used a different tonestack than the ShinEi it's baased off of. But it's definitely not a straight up ripoff. It would be more like a modified Shin Ei.
@FiveseveNp90
@FiveseveNp90 6 ай бұрын
@@LeviBulger So BOSS's clone is "based off of" but Behringer's is a "rip off"? Nice consistency. And no, adding the necessary buffers for electronic bypass and a treble and bass control does not make it original.

In defence of his very expensive pedal, there is a difference between just the pedal in the room and the pedal after you've tweaked the amp around a bit and then played it in a band with other musicians. The Behringer sounds great on it's own and is a clone of the pedal that Electric Wizard uses so probably sounds great in a band setup too, but if Oz is loving his fuzz war then great. He might buy the Tone City and the Behringer and take them to practice and find they just don't work as well. There's always trial and error in these things.

The thing is: Fuzz doom shoot-out is a game that can be played for 24 hours straight, with all those pedals in an endless cycle and the "current winner" pedal will keep changing until the end as the ear just loves the change up (after hearing one sonic spectrum of frequencies and clipping for a certain amount of time). You will however know very quickly which sounds in general you like more than others. But the "keep or move on" principle will never let you settle for one pedal for more than one hour. If you're so satisfied with one sound that you don't want the sound to change at all after like 2 hours then a) you're very good in listening for nuanced high frequencies and patient while dialing them, in the first place and b) you found a pedal that probably does it for you. Although some sort of shoegaze high might kick in and you're just fixated to a sound in the moment because you like what you're just playing, while on another day you wouldn't at all prefer that pedal over others. (So maybe it's better to not be into it too much while testing.)

Right now I believe the behringer SF300 is an iconic and legendary pedal for being a BOSS FZ-2 clone.

😂 Lee haha. This one made me laugh and smile. I really enjoyed it. Keep doing more like this. I was nodding my head the whole time following the smoke to the riff filled land.

It's fun in these fuzz tests for dirty doom tones to see how cheap pedals can do really well. I've got that behringer as well and it's amazing for its price.

Gunslinger was probably my favorite! It had such a uniquely sharp attack the other pedals couldn't replicate, almost overdrive-like.

What a way to learn that you’re now into some doom thing. One of the best episodes for sure!

THat was one of the most FUN vids you guys have done. I play only originals and use Metal sounds from every decade and Metal genre. I have a few of today's pedals including the winner. To be honest I was most impressed by the Tone City Matcha Cream. It does the DOOM thing but very, very tight. Some tunes or parts of tunes need huge but tight and without sacrificing some tone, especially if there is vocal over them.

the HM2 is also a really really good doom pedal but it's a very, very unique sound and requires the knobs pointed in a way that doesn't involve all of them being dimed. it tends to work better for heavier sounds, but... keep the high knob backed off behind the 12:00 mark and boost the lows to taste. blend it with your amp gain. have fun.

The matcha cream pedal was incredible.. My favourite was the Tone City Matcha Cream & EHX Rams Head Muff. 2nd place goes to the DOD Carcossa and 3rd was the Behringer Super Fuzz. I''ve only got the Behringer so now I'm GASSING hard hahah
