I just hope the hiatus ends quickly it's aways been delayed in young animal but the next issues were cancelled until further notice. Gerard Way says there's nothing to worry about so i wait in humble anticipation. I'm happy with the direction its going. I gotta say Morrison, Pollack, and Way are the definitive versions of Doom Patrol and I hope we never have to go normal again.

Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol is perhaps one of the worst comics in the history of comic books. He took a fun superhero book under Paul Kupperberg and turned it into something dark , brooding and definitely not fun. A total piece of garbage. Not a fan.

@@danielcarolan3531 If that was the case they would have done it themselves. I don't believe it for a moment. Grant Morrison nearly ruined it . Thank God for John Byrne bringing a little sanity back to the Doom Patrol and making it a fun comic book once again.

I'm surprised that the New Doom Patrol which came out back in the mid to late 70s wasn't mentioned since it had Robotman, Negative Woman, Celsius, and Tempest that lasted until the 90s until revived later on to include Karma, Lodestone, and Scott Fischer and had later brought back Negative Man and Niles Caulder.

The Kupperberg run is underrated. General Immortus got people from senior homes to be his army, and they generally didn't live. And there was a villain called Shrapnel who could blow himself to pieces. Then there were Garguax's plastic men and the fight over who could control the negative energy spirit. Then there was a comic book nerd who got superpowers the Marvel way, through exposure to radioactive material, which also gave him leukemia so he didn't live very long.

My first introduction to the Doom Patrol was the Teen Titans animated series where they show up and I thought they were a pretty cool team. Fast forward to recent time and when I had money to buy some comics, I was interested in reading some Doom Patrol for the first time and decided to start with the most current run, Gerald Way's version and while it was a bit hard to understand what was going on at first, I liked it, the art was good and the characters were pretty cool themselves. I next decided to get a trade of the classic Doom Patrol and liked that as well, seeing the original run with its goofiness and basically I was sold on the whole team, even have most of Grant Morrison's run, missing the third trade of it. When it comes to strange and weird heroes that are meant to be outcasts, DC did it better than Marvel at the start because the Doom Patrol were actual freaks compared to the mostly normal looking X-Men. Really only Elasti-Girl and Mento are the most normal where as Negative Man is a mummy looking dude who has see through, radioactive skin and Robot Man is a...Robot Man, Beast Boy is green, Crazy Jane has 64 different personalities and powers and Flex Mentallo is a fictional character, like a literal fictional character in the comics who gets brought to life, this compared to most X-Men who at least look human and have some pretty nifty powers and I can only think of Beast, Night Crawler and Rouge in terms of being freaks due to powers and/or appearance and Beast only became a freak later. Not trying to hate on the X-Men, they are awesome but in terms of strangeness, Doom Patrol has them beat, one of their villains are Scissor Men who cut people out of reality as well as a reality warper who thinks he's both Jack the Ripper and God himself.

You completely missed the first attempt to revive the Doom Patrol, The New Doom Patrol had a 3-issue tryout in Showcase comics #94-96 in 1977/78. Written by Paul Kupperberg and drawn by Joe Staton, Robotman was given a snazzy new robot body and was joined by new members Tempest, Celcius, and Negative woman. Apparently, sales weren't good enough to warrant a new title for them, but they did make few guest appearances in the DC universe, before disappearing completely.

Was it just me or did the entire thing ignore the most historically famous character Beast Boy! I mean that is why Beast Boys costume is so different in Teen Titans cause he's still wearing Doom Patrol costume the entire series and all runs of teen titans go .

I'm going to say this now. X-MEN are so lucky they have their films. The cartoons and film made them popular. However If xmen didn't have a great film series, I would of considered them a sad ripoff. Marvel is lucky I like X-men because if I would of known this sooner, I'd bash xmen.

X-Men + Avengers = Doom Patrol Robot Man = Iron Man Negative Man = Vision Elastigirl = Ant Man/Giant Man Chief Niles = Prof. X wow when Marvel rip-off DC it's not so subtle but when DC rip-off Marvel it's plain as a fucking day

Doom Patrol predates X men, so X men copied Doom Patrol. Elastigirl stretches, she doesn't just shrink and grow, like DC' Elongated Man, who Mr Fantastic copied. Negative Man and Vision are nothing alike. But Vision is a complete rip off of red Tornado's background. So as usual, it's Marvel copying DC.

Teddy Riggs Nope he is a cyborg fully encased in a metal body. He looks different, has different powers and a totally different personality and origin. I think the Metal Men inspired him, as they came out a year earlier and are robots with human personalities. Negative Man doesn't fly around and shoot things. The spirit is separate to the man and causes explosions when it touches positive matter. Most importantly, the Silver Age Vision came after Negative Man by 5 years. I have heard people compare Doom patrol to the FF, but the truth is they are all desperate attempts to minimise the fact that X Men copied Doom Patrol. The true Ironman copy is Rocket Red it is said, although he is more like the Crimson Dynamo in my opinion. However, Tony Stark is a copy of Bruce Wayne. As for Vision, the original Golden Age version inspired Martian Manhunter, who in turn inspired the Silver Age Vision's powers. The later Vision also 'borrowed' Red Tornado's origin as well.
