'Doomsday Clock' set at 90 seconds to midnight

Atomic scientists set the "Doomsday Clock" closer to midnight than ever before on Tuesday, saying threats of nuclear war, disease, and climate volatility have been exacerbated by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, putting humanity at greater risk of annihilation.
The "Doomsday Clock," created by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists to illustrate how close humanity has come to the end of the world, moved its "time" in 2023 to 90 seconds to midnight, 10 seconds closer than it has been for the past three years.

I would like to add that my grade 7 teacher, over 40 years ago shared some similar news with our class. its just a scale to measure a current conflict that could potentially involve nuclear weapons, meaning if said conflict keeps going at the same rate without dissipating on either side then the clock will strike midnight meaning either side will likely launch nuclear weapons shortly afterwards, basically a conflict tension scale in time form but its a stupid concept because nuclear weapons can be launched at any time with zero notice beforehand anyways 😂
