They don’t know. It’s been almost proven that Alex is the one that did it with the help of Chad. They had Alex do the dirty work. He stayed behind while Lori went out of town, he stayed behind and was pinged on Chad’s property and so was Chad. I don’t think Chad did any of the dirty work, he planned and plotted and used Alex as a fall guy exactly like Alex had said at one point. The only reason he’s not being prosecuted is because he’s dead.

They are allowed to be in “street clothes” in a jury trial normally. If he’s convicted then he will appear in jail clothes for sentencing. It’s supposed to be so the jury isn’t prejudiced against the defendant. Jail attire is sometimes seen as prejudicial. He likely also has ankle restraints of some type since he is in custody, but they wouldn’t want the jury to see that either. That’s why the table goes so far down or sometimes there are table skirts on the tables for that reason
